This Toyota Tacoma is in very good condition. It has 163,000 miles that are mostly highway. I drive 65 miles a day and have changed the oil every 3-5 thousand miles with full synthetic. The body itself is in great condition. There are of course a few very minor dings that come with a 9 year old vehicle. The interior is virtually spotless. The truck runs great with plenty of power and it doesn't burn any oil or smoke at all. The transmission shifts fine as does the transfer case when shifting regularly or on the fly. The rims came off the sport model, so they are 17 inches and not the 16 inch rims that came with this model. The tires are Hancook Dynapros and are less than a year old. The hood scoop is just cosmetic and has no function. I just liked the looks. The shell is a Leer and the inside is fine but the outside has some good scratches and surface cracks. I was quoted $250 to have it repainted. I bought it off a person who had it sitting in his back yard and never used it even when he used a weedeater. But the glass, lock, screens, and hinges are fine. I replaced the rear shocks with heavier duty ones less than 2 years ago, and the interstate battery is a little over a year old. There is a rubber mat on the floor of the bed on top of the standard Toyota Tacoma bedliner. This truck has been my baby. I have painted the brake calipers, added the bug deflectors over the hood and windows, and did a little pin-striping. It has been well taken care of, but due to the miles I drive, I need to sell it before it loses too much value. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. 400-hp Toyota Hybrid-R Concept gets second teaser
Tue, 13 Aug 2013Toyota has released a second teaser of its Hybrid-R Concept, along with an estimation of the show car's power output. Using technology that's "similar to that used by Toyota Racing's TS030 Hybrid race car," the concept is expected to deliver over 400 horsepower.
The press release also mentions that the new concept is based on a current production model. While it's difficult to tell from the sole teaser image of the car's body, rumors are flying that it's related to the Yaris. If that's the case, though, it's difficult to know what to make of this concept. The teaser image is quite dark, but we played around with the exposure and came up with an image that reveals more details about the new concept. Take a look at the related gallery, below, to see the high-exposure image. We'll find out for certain what the Hybrid-R is in a few weeks at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Toyota discontinuing FJ Cruiser after 2014 model year
Tue, 20 Aug 2013The Toyota FJ Cruiser is not long for this world. According to the manufacturer's own fleet website, the rugged FJ will be discontinued after the 2014 model year, with the companies final orders due in June of next year.
Toyota first launched the FJ Cruiser in 2006 as a 2007 model, and aside from minor year-over-year changes, it has not been substantially updated. The FJ is the modern successor to the original FJ40 Land Cruiser that Toyota produced from the 1960s all the way up through 1984, when the automaker decided to better focus on its larger, four-door Land Cruiser line. Currently, it uses a 4.0-liter V6 engine with either rear- or four-wheel drive, and is available with either a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, word of the FJ's demise comes not long after Toyota's US boss, Bill Fay, reaffirmed his company's commitment to body-on-frame trucks in late July.
Also of interest, Toyota's fleet website states that the 2014 model year Prius range will have "minor updates," though it's unclear what those are as of this writing. When Autoblog reached out to confirm these developments with Toyota, spokesman Curt McCallister reminded us, "As is our corporate policy, we don't discuss future products beyond the present or upcoming model year."
2014 Toyota Highlander to start at $30,075*
Tue, 17 Dec 2013We now have pricing for Toyota's redesigned 2014 Highlander, which is seeing moderate price hikes across the board. Prices for the popular crossover have been bumped from less than 1 percent to less than 3 percent on lower-end models (anywhere from $125 to $890, depending on trim). Toyota has increased prices on higher-end XLE and Limited models more substantially - between 4.1 and 4.5 percent ($1,480 to $1,700). The Highlander Hybrid sees its price increase 2 percent ($930). The new model will be available in four different trims and with either front or all-wheel drive.
The absolute cheapest member of the Highlander range, the base LE, with a four-cylinder and front-wheel drive starts at $30,075, an increase of just $195. The LE is also available with a V6 and all-wheel drive, with the bigger engine upping the price to $31,380. All-wheel drive models start at $32,840. A slightly pricier LE Plus starts at $33,600 for a V6 FWD model and $35,060 if you add all-wheel drive.
Next up, we have the XLE, which starts at $36,900 for FWD models and moves up to $38,360 for AWD. The top-tier Limited model starts at $40,500 in FWD spec, grips-at-all-fours versions will retail for $41,960. For those that want the very top of the Highlander range, there's the Platinum Pack, which adds the Driver's Tech Pack (adaptive cruise control, pre-collision warning, lane departure warning and automatic high beams), a panoramic moonroof, heated steering wheel and heated second-row seats to the already well-equipped Limited model. Highlander Platinums start at $42,990 and $44,450, depending on how many tires are doing the work. (Note: All prices include an $860 destination and handling charge.)
