Like New, Rust Free Toyota Tercel Deluxe 4x4 Wagon Ivory Color, is a rare factory 4WD model said to have only 55,100k miles from new. It has its original paint, interior, engine, Automatic transmission, and is entirely a rust free one owner California car, was owned by a woman who drove it infrequently. I bought it from this woman’s estate. the car had been sitting in a covered parking garage near LAX Airport for13 (Thirteen Years)until family matters with the family estate could be worked out. Before I drove it out of the garage I had to carefully wash storage dirt and dust of 13 years  off the car. It was pretty exciting. So it’s really clean and original now. It has factory A/C(not charged) , PB/PS radio, tachometer, clock, and rear window defogger. The cigarette lighter and ashtray have never been used. It is equipped with radial tires, and a radial spear tire with all the jack and tire tools in the storage area. The brake and gas peddles show little wear, as do the seats, with the exception of one small tear, on the drivers side. The tiny 1.5 liter OHC legendary reliability. The car has no rust, no accidents and original Ivory Color paint still shines. The wagon now has items replaced or repaired, that were necessary to pass strict California smog standards and has it’s originally issued '85 California Blue License plate # 1NDY052 further confirmation of its originality and authenticity. Those include: New head gasket, new valve cover gasket, new timing belt, new CV axles on both sides, new original  stock Toyota carburetor, fluids flushed. Front and rear differential fluids changed. Recent tune up with: new plugs, new wires, new cap and rotor, new fuel filter, new thermostat, recent radiator, and recent battery. Completely original, and perfectly functioning 1985 Toyota exhaust system.
As of March 28th, the 4x4 Wagon resides in (Youngstown)North East Ohio. I drove the car myself from Los Angeles. To visit some family.I had no problems, considering it is almost 30 years old. It starts every time. Drivable. No room to keep it. The vehicle is in close to showroom condition and turns heads every time. Very Original, Very Clean, Always garaged, Drive It Home!!

General Motors became second-largest US advertiser in 2013

Fri, 28 Mar 2014

General Motors might be mired in several recalls, as well as the ongoing investigations from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Congress into the automaker's response to those recalls. However, the company can celebrate taking the title of the US' second-largest advertiser in 2013. According to Ad Week examining a recently released study, total advertising spending in the US posted its fourth consecutive year of rising expenditures with 0.9-percent growth to $140.2 billion. Of that, the auto industry spent $15.2 billion to promote its goods in 2013, up 3.8 percent.
The country's biggest advertiser was Procter and Gamble, which dropped $3.17 billion in 2013, an increase of 11.8 percent. GM became the nation's second largest promoter with $1.794 billion in spending, up 10 percent. The biggest proportion of that money went to sell Cadillac and GMC. AT&T barely lost out with $1.793 billion in advertising, 15.2 percent growth. The 10 businesses with the highest ad investments spent a cumulative $15.9 billion during the year, 6.6 percent higher than 2012. Toyota came in eighth place making it the only other automaker to rank in the top 10.
The study also indicates that there is a shift in advertising spending from television and print to the Internet. There was 15.7 percent more money outlaid to promote products online in 2013 than the previous year. In comparison, television dropped 0.1 percent, newspapers were down 3.7 percent and radio fell 5.6 percent.

Volkswagen could outsell GM in China for the first time in nine years

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

As of the end of November, Volkswagen had sold 70,000 more cars than General Motors in China in 2013, making it appear inevitable that VW will outsell GM there. The feat would return the German brand to the top of chart in China for the first time in nine years, but even the second-place getter won't be complaining too loudly: both automakers sold more than three million vehicles in a market pegged to hit 16 million sales this year.
Volkswagen said it could have sold more cars if it had had more production capacity in China. The arrival of a new-to-China Audi A4, a China-built A3 sedan, the VW Bora and Skoda Octavia, as well as an $18.2-billion-euro investment in the country to construct new factories, means VW should see its numbers grow in 2014. GM's lineup is expanding next year, too, adding four Chevrolet nameplates and two vehicles to its Baojun brand as it tries to get to five million in sales by 2015.
Among other automakers, Ford benefited from good product and woes for Japanese automakers over a territorial dispute with China, outselling Toyota by almost 32,000 units through the end of November. The Ford Focus is China's best-selling vehicle so far this year.

Toyota FCV rallies to the hydrogen cause as zero car

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

It's been two decades since Toyota dominated the World Rally Championship with its Celica Turbo 4WD. But this past weekend, Toyota hit the rally stage in a very different vehicle.
That, as you can see, is the Japanese automaker's Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV), which is still in its prototype phase. We're still at least half a year away from seeing the FCV in production trim, but the model has already been pressed into duty as the "zero car" at the Shinshiro Rally, the last round of the Japanese Rally Championship.
The zero car, for those unfamiliar, is to rally what a pace or safety car is to circuit racing, driving the rally stage to check for signs of trouble before the competitors put their feet to the floor, so it's not as if the FCV needed extensive modifications. From the looks of things, it just needed some jazzy stripes, mud flaps, probably different rolling stock and an interior with racing buckets and harnesses, roll cage, radio equipment and maybe a bit more ground clearance.
