Hello!  So, first off, allow me tell you have owned a few of these TR6.  Really love them and one of my favorite cars of all time.  To sell this one is difficult, but relocation forces some decisions.  Thought would post here and see if we can fine a nice home.  If not back to storage it goes.  So…

For your consideration, offering a 1974 Triumph TR6 with override.  Great British sports car that turns every journey into your own rollercoaster ride.  Owned a couple of these TR6’s and this one is really nice.  Run strong and drives well.  It is no concours level car, but you can take it to any show and be proud.  All the major show stoppers have been addressed on this one.  So, let’s talk about the good and not so good.

Miles: 101,700
Vin: CF24783U
Body: No rust, or bubbles. No waves or ugly body work.  Everything is solid and works as it should. The doors do seem a bit out of alignment. Close and lock fine, but gap from top to bottom seems little off.
Paint: Very good, shiny and mirror like finish with the right wax. Original chip code states 92 “Magenta”.  However, it is currently wearing a nice variant of British Racing Green.
Engine: 2.5L straight 6.  Very strong, non-smoking, non-overheating, non- complaining example. Recent tune up including electronic ignition and rebuilt Strombergs.  Clean, well kept motor that turns over every time.
Transmission: Smooth shifting.  No odd sounds or grinding in any of the gears.  Recent clutch replacement with yes the clutch fork pin fixed.  If you don’t know the work that goes into this service, check it out.  And yes have receipts.  Car does have overdrive, but was accidentally disconnected during last service.  Easy resolve.
Rear hub and axles: Again, smooth going.  No clunk on shifting and axles in good shape.  Nothing really to report here.
Suspension: Overall is good shape.  No missing rubber and car tracks straight.  Shocks are good in the front and the rear dampers are fine.  During the last service, it was noted that the front ball joints are becoming weak and should be replaced.
Brakes: In fine order and stop straight.  Does squeak a bit when cold as noted in video
Tires and wheels: The tires are brand new and purchased right before winter storage last year.  Maybe 10 miles on them at best.  Stock wheels and rings.  All in good shape with good shine.
Chrome: Front and rear bummer in nice shape.  With the right wax and time, can get that “blue effect”.  They are the original bumpers so would put them at very nice street / driver level.  Again, no major defects.
Wiring: So glad you asked.  This car has had a complete rewire.  And yes, receipts on that one also.  Had all original TRs in the past, which has all the original problems.  Please, if you are in the market for one of these cars, make sure the wiring has been updated.  It really brings the car alive and makes it an enjoyable companion.
Interior: This is a nice place to be.  Black leather, no rips or tears.  Carpets are older, but in good shape.  Wood dash is nice and all original Smith gauges that work.  Very little clouding, but nothing major. Newly installed lap belts for your protection and coolness.   Overall would say a good street / driver quality level.
Top:  Older top, looks to have been replaced at some point.  No cuts or holes and rear window zip is fine.  The passenger side plastic window is cut on a fold.  The past owner told me the top was put down when it was cold and broke.  Guess you could cut out and replace.  Other than that, top is fine.
Exhaust: Older Monza exhaust.  Which means it is broken in and simply sounds great!  The car does not have a radio, but you will NOT miss it with this soundtrack! Probably due for a repaint if you want to keep it around longer.  No wholes, leaks or fumes from it.
Glass: Doors and windscreen are clear in good shape.  No breaks, chips or cracks.
Others: Includes car cover, black leather boot cover, British Heritage Certificate and about 5K in receipts.
Video of the car can be viewed here:

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
