September 14, 1950 Type 1 Beetle, delivered to Scania-Vabis Sweden, shipped within past 15 years from Malmo Sweden to USA. Matching numbers chassis, body, and engine with VW Birth certificate to verify.
Very original, great running and looking vehicle and based on the known history and verifiable original condition, it is believed to have only 72,000 km’s.
*All original body panels & fenders
*Original floor pans and undercarriage. No Rust, even under battery!
*Floor pans on interior have high gloss factory black paint in pristine condition.
*5 AVON tires and 5 x 16” rims.
*Split bumpers in great condition along with hubcaps and exterior trim.
*Original interior paint and seat material, including cardboard tags under seat cushions, and rare tan floor mats.
*Carpet and headliner look to have been replaced but are in great condition and correct for the year.
*Original paint on interior and engine compartment.
*More recent exterior paintjob probably put on prior to shipment out of Europe that is original color and in good condition with a few minor issues (4 areas of bubbles). Probably a 7 out of 10 on paint quality. If I keep the car, I would respray it.

VW Super Bowl teaser with Jimmy Cliff is like a less-mean Tosh.0 Web Redemption
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Reggae super-duper-star and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jimmy Cliff has been using music to send positive vibes out into the universe for decades now, so its no surprise that his message on behalf of Volkswagen is one of redemption.
Dubbed Sunny Side, this web-spot is VW's warmup of sorts for what promises to be another blockbuster year in the world of Super Bowl commercials. Without giving away the game, the euphonious commercial sees Cliff opening his arms and his heart to some YouTube 'celebrities' that might see courser treatment from the likes of Tosh.0, for instance. We can't help but be reminded of Coca-Cola's legendary 1971 Hilltop spot with the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" lyric, too.

VW updates Scirocco with revised styling, new engines
Sun, 16 Feb 2014The Scirocco is undoubtedly one of the better-looking models in the Volkswagen lineup, but introduced back in 2008, it's now been on the market - some markets, anyway - for the better part of six years. VW is said to have an all-new replacement in the works, but before that arrives, the German automaker has announced a facelifted version with revised styling and a new engine lineup.
Set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the new Scirocco benefits from updated styling front and rear, high-tech exterior lighting, a revised cabin space with some throwback retro touches, some new technologies and, of course, an array of fresh wheel options ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
The updated Scirocco will be offered with a wide array of engines right from the get-go, including four gasoline options and two diesels, spanning from 125 horsepower all the way up to the 280-hp Scirocco R. The 2014 model hits European showrooms in August, but unfortunately isn't any more likely to make the transatlantic voyage Stateside than the version it replaces. Still interested? Andretti Autosport partners with Volkswagen for Global Rallycross season
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Michael Andretti and Volkswagen have both been involved in Global Rallycross for a couple of years, but not together. Andretti Motorsports Marketing organized the final round of the 2012 GRC series in Las Vegas, and there were rumors then that Andretti was going to get in. Around the same time there were news reports that Volkswagen was preparing a 600-hp Polo Mk5 to race in the SuperCar class; the photo above is racer Anton Marklund in his privateer Marklund Motorsports Polo at the 2013 X-Games round in Los Angeles.
Now it's official: Andretti Autosport will campaign the 2014 GRC season with VWs. That's all that's been said for now, Andretti being busy at the moment launching four entries for IndyCar, two for Indy Lights and two for Pro Mazda. We have a feeling we'll be seeing the MkVII Golf involved, but the cars and the driver lineup will be presented at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6.
