1953 Vw Karmann Kabriolett Convertible Beetle Cabriolett Bug Oval Split Type 1 2 on 2040-cars
New London, Missouri, United States
You don't see these every day for sale or maybe ever! I bought this car at an estate sale where it had been in the barn for over 25 years. The auction gave me a title for the car from 1984 and I have that title and VIN in my name however the title does not match the trim tag on the car which I understand is common on these cars. I have been told that they were often titled from the engine numbers then most engines were swapped out. The numbers I have on the title and car are as follows: Title:10591121 Tag on the car 1-0488220 Body # (stamped below tag) 15-13803 Other #'s from the tag Typ- 1/15 Then below: 1160 Below that: 80 Under the vin: 1953 and the column below the year has : 680 The engine is 2121649. The pan is from a later model and I have not gotten the numbers yet. The pictures represent what the car is. It really is in great restorable condition. Windows roll up and down well, the top folds back well (after lubricating the pivot points. The car is missing the back seat, the rear view mirror, sun visors, back window and other misc. parts. What you see is what you get. I do know where almost all of the parts can be bought. correct "ribbed" rear fenders. The car has accessory seat recliners, Correct deck lid with rain guards, correct ribbed doors, correct steering wheel, semaphores etc. Please look the pictures over and don't hesitate to get ahold of me for more pictures or details on the car. I'm also available if you want to set an appointment to look at it in person. Thanks for looking! The reserve I feel is very very fair and low. I'm sure the car will find a new home. I wish I could keep it and restore it but I have too many irons in the fire already. On Nov-04-13 at 06:08:47 PST, seller added the following information: I got the number off of the pan this morning. That number is 3108235. Please make sure if you have any questions ask them before the auction ends and I'm happy to show the car in person if anyone would like to see it. |

VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt
Sun, 08 Sep 2013
Just ahead of this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced the world premiere of its Golf Sportsvan, a near-production concept that succeeds its Golf Plus. VW describes this compact family car as "one of the most versatile vehicles of the compact class," noting that it offers a mix of hatchback and minivan features in a sporty package.
That sportiness comes from the Sportsvan's styling (perhaps more sleek wagon than minivan) and performance features it shares with the Golf GTI - including the XDS+ electronic differential lock, which is integrated into the Electronic Stability Control system to improve agility. At the same time, the Sportsvan's six engine options, which include a turbodiesel, are up to 19-percent more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.
Volkswagen iBeetle gets integrated iPhone dock, little else
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Apple fans have been itching to see the tech giant flex the full muscle of its iOS operating system in an automotive infotainment system for years, which is why we turned all sorts of excited when we caught wind of the Volkswagen iBeetle. The machine is headed to the Shanghai Motor Show for a debut, and VW promised it would be one of the "first cars in the world to have a genuine integrative interface for the iPhone that was coordinated with Apple." Listen closely, and you can hear the contented sigh of a million wallets opening.
Go ahead and close those up, kids.
In reality, the iBeetle offers little more than a dash-mounted dock and a special app that shows a few vehicle functions, which is about as far from an infotainment revolution as you're likely to find. In fact, the setup is little more than a factory rehash of aftermarket items, and hardly worth a whole model debut at an international motor show. And that's to say nothing of the fact that Apple relishes in changing the shape and form of its darling handheld at every generation. Volkswagen better be prepared to keep pace with appropriate docking mechanisms for the upcoming iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, et al.
Volkswagen E-Co-Motion Concept brings electric mobility to the commercial set
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Volkswagen sees a future where the bulk of the world's freight is moved into city centers by train, then offloaded onto a fleet of smaller, light-duty commercial vehicles for final delivery. Those vehicles could wind up looking something like the company's E-Co-Motion Concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The EV features a modular underfloor drive unit comprised of a battery, motor and gearbox that can be paired with any number of cab and body configurations to suit a buyer's needs, from a refrigerated box to a standard flat bed.
The E-Co-Motion Concept features a rear-mounted electric motor with 113 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. A standard 20 kWh battery pack provides a driving range of up to 62 miles, while 30 kWh and 40 kWh packs could deliver 93 and 124 miles of travel, respectively. Check out the press release below for more information.
