If you know anything about chopping a beetle is how difficult it is due to the round shape of the roof. This took 3 roofs to get it right and it looks perfect. Everything about this beetle is custom and she really turns heads. Chop is 4 inches.

Custom features include:

-  Custom rear and front bumpers. No guards or overriders. No bolts seen.

-  Custom front and rear fenders. No beading. Fenders are molded to body. Front fenders have turn signals removed and installed inside headlights. Rear have frenched in taillights.

-  Custom running boards.

-  Peep mirrors at the top of the doors.

 Full roll bar.

-  Rear seat removed and carpeted rear deck installed.

- Custom hood. Very clean with no trim. Only VW insignia. Opens at the side. Very clean looking.

- Custom rear deck lid hinged at bottom. Frenched in license plate space.

-  Custom door panels.

-  Front buckets.

-  Custom dash. Switches for kill, lights and wipers installed underneath. Pioneer stereo with amp behind drivers seat.

-  Antenna installed at top of roof.

-  500 miles on engine rebuild. Standard 1600 cc. 12 volt electric.

-  Wide 5 polished "5 spoke" wheels with brand new tires and Wolfsburg center caps.

-  Lowered.

-  All new wiring.

-  Paint is driver quality but virtually flawless.

-  No detail overlooked. I have had her to shows and she has always drawn a crowd.

Always garaged. This bug is customized but still retains look and feel of a stock beetle.

The 911 Of Hot Hatches Takes The Compact Game To New Levels
North American car buyers get a bit of a slap in the face when it comes to delivery schedules for new the Volkswagen Golf and pumped-up GTI models. We'll just repeat the old chestnut: It's worth the wait... even though it still stinks. This time around, Western Europe is taking deliveries of the new Golf as we speak, and GTI deliveries start between May and July. North America doesn't get the Mk7 Golf or GTI until about July of 2014.
So we approached our first drive of the new GTI with this chip on our shoulder: "You're making us wait? Well, then at least give us the exact car we'll be able to buy. No compromises, mein freund." And so it was that we extracted nearly all of our drive impressions from behind the wheel of what, for the United States, will technically be a model year 2015 two-door Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance with the standard six-speed manual.

Volkswagen adding R-Line trim to Touareg, Tiguan for 2014

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

Volkswagen introduced its aggressive R-Line appearance package on the CC and Beetle last year, but later this year, this treatment will also be applied to VW's crossovers, the Tiguan and Touareg. Both sporty-looking utility vehicles will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Tiguan R-Line comes standard with bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights, and the package adds 19-inch wheels, grey fender extensions, body-color side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. Inside, the R-Line adds a flat-bottom sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a black headliner and numerous metallic trim accents such as the stainless scuff plates, the aluminum pedals and metallic finish on the instrument and door panels. The Tiguan R-Line will be offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
As for the 2014 Touareg R-Line (shown above), this model gets an ever more distinctive look with an aggressive front fascia, 20-inch wheels and dual oval-shaped exhaust outlets in addition to the painted side skirts and LED taillights. Similar metallic interior trim pieces found inside the Tiguan R-Line will also make their way into the Touareg as well as gloss black accents on the instrument panel and center stack.

VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt

Sun, 08 Sep 2013

Just ahead of this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced the world premiere of its Golf Sportsvan, a near-production concept that succeeds its Golf Plus. VW describes this compact family car as "one of the most versatile vehicles of the compact class," noting that it offers a mix of hatchback and minivan features in a sporty package.
That sportiness comes from the Sportsvan's styling (perhaps more sleek wagon than minivan) and performance features it shares with the Golf GTI - including the XDS+ electronic differential lock, which is integrated into the Electronic Stability Control system to improve agility. At the same time, the Sportsvan's six engine options, which include a turbodiesel, are up to 19-percent more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.
