A Mechanic told me because the other lights work that the brake light switch needs to be replaced. Beetle could use a tune up. The beetle has been parked in my garage for 5 years and only driven during the summer on nice days and for car shows. I put a half tank of gas in it but, I think there is still old fuel in it. There is a small surface scratch on the right side just in front of the rear fender. It is about an inch long and just on the surface. It is so small that I could not get a picture of it. The seats are all in good shape but do have some small stains. Where the header and exhaust exit out the right rear, the rear panel gets hot and I can see the paint starting to bubble. It is not peeling but you can see when the exhaust is hot that the paint lifts upward. It is a spot the size of a silver dollar. If I were to keep it, I would route the exhaust out the rear center. The car is over 40 years old so it is not perfect."

You are bidding on my wife's 1969 VW Beetle coupe. I bought it from a Marine Officer who said it spent most of its life in Arizona before he transferred to North Carolina. Solid floor pans and all around solid car. I had the beetle painted about 5 years ago which cost me about $2,000.00. I painted it for my wife and it is called Hawaiian Hibiscus Red. It looks like a dark candy apple red. I replaced chrome including chrome running boards. Headliner is in great shape. The dash pad is new and replaced a couple years ago. The wheels are chrome VW rims with VW moon caps. Tires are still like new. The odometer reads 20,000 so, I think it is 120,000 miles. The Marine Officer said he rebuilt the engine when he bought it in 2001. I bought this car with the intent to do a ground up restoration for my wife. Due to military deployments the beetle sat in the garage most of the time and I just do not have the time to devote to it. I want it to go to someone that will enjoy a classic VW.

Brake lights are not working. All other lights work. A Mechanic told me because the other lights work that the brake light switch needs to be replaced. Beetle could use a tune up. This beetle is 44 years old and does drip a few drops of oil after running but, does not leak constantly. The beetle has been parked in my garage for over 5 years and only driven during the summer on nice days and for car shows. I put a half tank of gas in it recently but, I think there is still old fuel in it. There is a small surface scratch on the right side just in front of the right rear fender. It is about an inch long and just on the surface. It is so small that I could not get a picture of it. Drivers door could use some adjusting. It is a little hard to close. The seats are all in good shape with no rips but, do have some small stains. Where the header and exhaust exit out the right rear, the rear panel gets hot and I can see the paint starting to bulge up. It is not peeling but you can see when the exhaust is hot that the paint lifts upward. It is a spot the size of a silver dollar. If I were to keep it, I would route the exhaust out the rear center. The car is over 40 years old so it is not perfect.

I know that I probably forgot something. I do have the VW Beetle listed locally and reserve the right to end this auction at anytime.

I am happy to answer all your questions. You are welcome to come view the car or have a mechanic inspect it for you. I am available for questions via Ebay email.  I have 100% feed back so, bid with confidence.

Clear title and I am not looking for any trades. Bidders with 0 feedbacks will be cancelled. A $500.00 deposit (non-refundable) is due after the auction ends. Balance to paid in cash prior to transfer of ownership.

Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!

US-spec 2015 Volkswagen Golf and GTI to finally debut in New York

Tue, 12 Mar 2013

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf is hardly new to us. In fact, we've already driven it. And elsewhere in the world, the new Golf is already winning awards. Even so, we still have yet to see the US-spec version of the car, though that won't be the case much longer. As part of the New York Auto Show festivities later this month, Volkswagen will finally show off the 2015 Golf models destined for our shores.
Three different versions of the Golf will debut under the lights of New York City's Javits Center: the turbocharged TSI, oil-sipping TDI and hotter GTI. The first model in that list uses Volkswagen's new 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline five-cylinder. The latter two models use familiar engines: the 2.0-liter TDI diesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, respectively.
Even though the new Golf officially debuts later this month, it won't go on sale in the US until the first quarter of 2014. We'll be waiting patiently.

Skoda Octavia vRS is just the thing for your pumped-up neighborhood

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Skoda, oh Skoda. You're just so cool. Maybe it's the fact that it's a brand that we don't get in these United States, but Skoda's rebadged Volkswagens, in particular the new Octavia vRS shown here, are just different enough from the hum-drum VWs on our shores that the Czech brand seems strangely desirable. Maybe we're just craving forbidden fruit.
This short, minute-long spot covers the new vRS in a world of excess, where strollers ride on 26-inch wheels, lawnmowers feature V8 engines and ice cream cones are the size of toddlers. As things often go in these ads, the Octavia vRS draws the eyes of passerby that are seemingly use to things far more ridiculous than a reasonably priced Czech sedan. In reality, the Octavia should be fairly familiar to American buyers. It uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-pot found in the Volkswagen GTI and Jetta GLI, with 217 horsepower, and sits on the same platform as the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. Take a look at the full spot, below.

Car companies may need to start curbing model proliferation

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

Looking at the current automotive landscape, especially from German makers, you quickly get the impression that less definitely isn't more. BMW alone offers its 3 Series platform in practically every segment possible, including the regular sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe, which would seem to be direct competitors. Porsche might be the winner, though, with 20 different variants of the 911 listed for sale on its US website. However, some of this model madness might be reaching an end as companies begin cutting back spending or shifting money to other priorities.
According to Yahoo Finance, the offerings from the German automakers are up 25 percent over the past three years to over 200 models in Europe. The peak is expected to come around 2018 at 230 separate vehicles, according to consulting company PwC.
Amazingly, BMW, which is among the poster children for this model explosion, might be changing its tune. "I'm sure there will be points in the future where we look at certain cars and say, 'Maybe we need to think differently now,'" said head of sales Ian Robertson in an interview, according to Yahoo Finance. The statement certainly sounds shocking coming from a company rumored to have 23 front-wheel-drive vehicles all using a single platform on the way.
