74 VW SUPER BEETLE Very original and in running and driving condition. It will still need some TLC to be 100%, but it is in much better condition than most examples out there. -Starts right up, drives and shifts through all gears with no grinds or shifter pop outs. It does have some minor oil leaking, cooling fan noise, and valves a bit noisy. Probably due for adjustment. Absolutely no smoke whatsoever, even under full throttle. -Clean and clear title, car has always been here in Southeastern Virginia -Mileage unknown, but based on wear it is not excessive -No previous collision damage evident, appears to have only one respray in its original orange -Doors open and close perfect, nice gaps -Excellent electricals, all in working order -Typical VW Bug rust areas, but nothing too bad - the floorboards have already been done. The front trunk pan patched. -Chassis in very nice shape -Many new parts including Mahle German Exhaust, brakes, brake hoses, Rear KYB shocks, Castrol 20w50 oil change, fuel pump, ignition switch, heater hose block off kit for improved cooling (I have the hoses to return back if desired)new battery, starter -Front struts needing replacement and front wheel bearings were next on my to-do list. -Front hood just recently wont open, latch assembly -Steering and brakes feel great -Functioning AM FM Cassette -Overall a great Super with lots of potential. Production Volkswagen Taigun crossover caught in patent filing?
Wed, 01 May 2013Volkswagen brought an angular, bulldog-like small crossover concept called Taigun to the São Paulo motor show last year, claiming that it wanted to gauge interest in the design before making a decision about production. If a new report with alleged leaked patent images is to be believed, then, interest must have been pretty high.
China's Auto.Sohu.com has published this group of Taigun images, claiming that they have been sourced from the Chinese patent office and that the subcompact VW utility based on the Up! has been cleared for production.
If all of that is true, and if these images are representative of the final product, you'll see that designers haven't done much to alter the concept car's appearance. Comparing, shot for shot, with the images we have from Brazil, we see that even small details like roof rack-mounted lights and exhaust tips integrated in the rear fascia have been carried over. VW pondering low-cost sub-brand for China?
Wed, 30 Jan 2013More detail is being sketched into the Volkswagen Group's plan to launch a low-cost brand for emerging markets. Late last year a German report quoted a VW rep saying that the brand has been interested in building a no-frills car, the kind that would challenge Dacia and Datsun, for a while. With both Proton and Suzuki effectively out of the partnership picture, a report in Reuters suggests VW could go straight to China, developing a car with its joint venture partners and building and selling it there.
Officially, company CEO Martin Winterkorn said the issue of a model for emerging markets would be decided this year but VW isn't any closer to confirming any kind of plan for a car in its portfolio underneath the Up!, remarking to Reuters about the China possibility, "That's an issue we're currently looking at."
VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.
