1975 Fuel Injection Vw Bug Garage Find Has 72,000 Miles on 2040-cars
Arcadia, Wisconsin, United States
Here we have a 1975 Lime Green VW Bug that i got a few months back to restore but lost interest. The bug has not been run for 13 years and has been a garage all this time. The bug ran fine when parked. I have the fuel tank out of right now i had clean the tank and install new fuel pump. The car had new floor put in it just before it was parked and still looks new the hard work is done. The drivers rocker need some help the door drops a little when you open it but it,s not bad. The seats are not the best but i have set of nice leather black seat out of a newer small Dodge car that go with it. The back seat is okay i just had it out to check things out. The tires will need to be replaced. All the glass is in great shape with no cracks. Has you can see in pics it is pretty nice solid car. Some rust but not bad. The came from Montana in 1986. I have not had the car running yet but it should be fine with some TLC. When i put battery in it it turn over fine and all lights, blinkers, radio, brake lights work fine. I put all new fuses in it. The car has 72,800 miles on it. This would make a good driver. The front brakes have been taking out they where locked up from sitting but rear brakes are fine. The head liner is white and about a 1 1/2" tear in it behind the driver. If you need to know more please email us before bidding. Thanks For Looking. Check out my other items! 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid
Tue, 12 Feb 2013More Fun Than A Prius, Less Sensible Than A TDI
Let's have some fun, and do some math. We're talking pretty rudimentary stuff, multiplication and division, to figure out if the upcoming Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid can make a baseline case for itself against two very strong competitors in this segment. The competitors in question, at least for now, are two more Jettas: the diesel-drinking TDI and the fit-for-the-masses SE with VW's long-serving 2.5-liter engine.
To keep the equations clean and simple (hey, we're writers), we'll calculate based on the most flattering EPA miles per gallon stat from highway driving for all cars, assume a healthy 20,000 miles driven per year, and factor in today's average cost for the respective fuels these three require: diesel (TDI), regular (SE) and premium (Hybrid). We'll also start with the base prices for all models.
Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault
Fri, 21 Mar 2014LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.
Editors' Choice: Top Five 2013 Geneva Motor Show Debuts
Fri, 08 Mar 2013We've returned from a very busy week in Switzerland, and in going back over all of our 75 stories from the Geneva Motor Show, our editors have gathered up their personal favorite debuts from the European expo.
The wonderful thing about the Geneva show is just how wide of an array of vehicles are on display - everything from funny little one-off EVs to the most exotic of supercars to, well, truly ridiculous displays of coachbuilding. And because of that, this list of our editors' favorites might not be as predictable as you think.
But we don't want to give anything away just yet. Scroll down to have a look at our team's favorites from Geneva.
