14,500+/-  Original Documented Miles. This is not a run out then restored vehicle but a 100% ORIGINAL Classic and most desirable color combination...Yellow with Black Top & Interior. Collectible, Collectible, Original fuel injector system, One of last years for German made Karman models, Smells VW "New", Have original window sticker and convertible boot too...Simply amazing condition ! Zero/no disappointments !  Close to concourse/museum quality original bug convertible available in U.S.  I've actually owned this car twice. First time in 2006 and sold it to a collector in MD then bought it back in summer of 2012....prior owner only put 90 miles on it since I sold it last time.  I'm not a dealer but a classic car collector that only owns super low mile vehicles in flawless condition. Top is in perfect condition inside and out with ZERO stains, cracks, rips, or tears as are seats and even VW rubber floor mats.  Glass all clear with no chips or scraches or yellowed edges, Original working am/fm radio, newer whitewall tires have less than 1000 miles on them and wheels & hubcaps are rust free as new. Window chrome is 100% rust/pit free as is all exterior chrome including bumpers. Zero rust on exterior and undercarriage is flawless with no rust (other than minor surface corrosion). Show winner wherever it goes. Always stored inside.  Presently in an aircraft hangar in northern NH and free storage available through June if needed. Only minor flaws that don't make this a 10+ are  1.) 3 pen tip minor dings, one by wiper where front hood touches when open and 2 tiny small pin size dings on passenger lower rear....don't see them on pics. as they're that small.  2.) Top inside & out perfect as stated but outer seam came apart that holds in noise insulating material has come separated in few spots, only barely noticeable when top down. Car runs perfect, no rattles, pulling, odd shifting or noises but at summer on last local auto show trip, I noticed a slight smell of raw fuel which is believed to be a fuel line deterioration due to ethanol fuel. Did not repair as I left for my FL winter residence after storing.

If you're winning bidder, and after paying for vehicle, you change your mind, I'll refund 100% of purchase price within 10 days upon return to me if you're unhappy with description for any reason as long as it's returned to me at same location as pick-up in NH with no more than 10 additional miles on it and in identical condition as purchased and with original title unsigned by buyer. That's how confident I am you'll be amazed at this gorgeous time capsule vehicle ! Will accept personal, bank or certified checks but no title or automobile released until it clears OR Cash or wire transfer for immediate release.

Call David (407) 325-7452 with questions. If you do not have an established POSITIVE E-bay bidding history, call me to prevent your bid from being removed. I reserve the right to end auction prior to 10 days.

Prop-driven VW Beetle hopes to land in Bonneville [w/video]

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

Sometimes you meet folks who, when they tell you "Hey, I have an idea," your reflex response is to stop what you're doing and tell yourself, "Get ready...." We imagine Mike Niemans is one of those folks, and the idea in question is putting a tank engine on a Type 1 Volkswagen Beetle. Not just any old tank engine - as if there were such a thing when we're talking about putting them in cars - but a 668-cubic-inch, 220-horsepower radial engine built by Continental in 1941 and procured from an M2 tank.
In the image above Nieman is using the tank clutch hub to get the motor set up, but in one of the images below you can see what really belongs back there is: a two-inch, reverse-pitch prop taken from a wind generator. He says there's enough mojo with the propeller action to get the car rolling down the runway like a jet when he gives it gas - and speaking of gas, the engine's been refitted to run on propane.
After a few safety tweaks Nieman's going to take the matte-black Beetle to Bonneville, "put the prop on, let her go and see what happens!" We can't wait to see the video of that. There are two shakedown videos below to get you ready.

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring

Wed, 22 May 2013

The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.

GM outsold VW globaly in first quarter, Toyota reports numbers next week

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

General Motors released its first quarter sales figures this week, reporting that it sold 2.36 million cars and trucks worldwide. That figure represents an increase of 3.6 percent when compared to the same period last year. GM's growth was attributed to many factors, including global Cadillac sales that were up 26 percent and Chevrolet posting a one percent increase over last year (this marked Chevy's tenth straight year of record global sales).
Volkswagen came in just behind GM, as the German automaker reported global sales from January through March at 2.27 million vehicles, an increase of five percent when compared to last year. While that number was strong, VW is cautioning that markets outside China and the US, such as those in Europe, are becoming a challenge as economies falter.
Yet to report sales is Toyota, current holder of the global world sales crown (the Japanese company sold 9.75 million cars last year, against 9.29 million sold by GM and 9.1 million vehicles sold by VW). Even though GM and Toyota both say they don't care who sells the most units, it is unquestionably a strong bragging point and sales equate to revenue. That said, Toyota will report its first quarter numbers next week.
