Up for sale is this absolutely gorgeous VW convertible. I am a vw mechanic and have owned many VW's and this is one of the nicest I have ever seen. I got this car from a lady who has been restoring this car for the past several years. Recently she was diagnosed with a serious illness and was forced to sell. I bought the car from her to get her money for treatment, etc. I would like to get out of what I got it for so please bid with confidence. I am very picky about my cars so I will describe this car as well as possible so you will know exactly what you will be buying. The paint is opal green and is an easy 9.5 out of 10. The top is new and cost $3000 alone. It is a custom, cloth top, no cheap vinyl here. The interior is new. All carpet, door panels, headliner, etc. is new. The original clock and A/C still work like new. The interior is an easy 9.5 out of 10. There is a small crack about an inch long in the dash but you can't really see it. The rubber is new all around the car. The widshield has a small hairline crack on the upper left corner but you have to look to see it. The motor runs like new. She replaced the crappy fuel injected engine with the much more reliable carb motor and it runs like new. The motor leaks nothing! Before I got the car it was completely tuned up. This bad boy will go anywhere with no problems. Overall you will be hard pressed to find a nicer example. This will make you an awesome ragtop and you will get noticed. Show or go, you will love this car! This is atruly no reserve sale so bid often and with confidence. I will assist in any shipping needs. No scammers please, I do not have the time or patience... 2015 Volkswagen GTI [w/video]

The 911 Of Hot Hatches Takes The Compact Game To New Levels
North American car buyers get a bit of a slap in the face when it comes to delivery schedules for new the Volkswagen Golf and pumped-up GTI models. We'll just repeat the old chestnut: It's worth the wait... even though it still stinks. This time around, Western Europe is taking deliveries of the new Golf as we speak, and GTI deliveries start between May and July. North America doesn't get the Mk7 Golf or GTI until about July of 2014.
So we approached our first drive of the new GTI with this chip on our shoulder: "You're making us wait? Well, then at least give us the exact car we'll be able to buy. No compromises, mein freund." And so it was that we extracted nearly all of our drive impressions from behind the wheel of what, for the United States, will technically be a model year 2015 two-door Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance with the standard six-speed manual.

VW promises 7-seat CUV for America in 2016

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

On the eve of the Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen chief executive Martin Winterkorn has confirmed the imminent arrival of a new crossover. The model, previewed at the same show last year by the CrossBlue concept pictured here, will be unique to the North American market when it arrives here in 2016. The new three-row, seven-seat crossover is part of an ambitious expansion plan on the part of Volkswagen and Audi in North America, where the two brands aim to sell a million vehicles by 2018.
That's a mighty big increase over the 600,000 vehicles which the Volkswagen Group sold here last year, but it's moving in the right direction: That number is already a 100-percent increase of what it sold here just five years ago. At that rate, VW should have little trouble meeting its goals, particularly with the arrival of the new crossover and the introduction of Golf production at its assembly plant in Puebla, Mexico. Volkswagen's 261-mpg hand-built XL1 headed for Geneva

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

After years of rumors, development and testing, the Volkswagen XL1 is finally about to become a reality. The project that began life as a daring 1-Liter concept car in 2002, will finally get its production-ready curtain call at the Geneva Motor Show in just a few weeks.
As soon as it hits the streets, the two-seat XL1 will instantly become the most fuel-efficient and most aerodynamic production car in the world. The car uses a plug-in hybrid system to achieve mind-blowing consumption of just 0.9 liters of diesel fuel consumed every 100 kilometers (and average of roughly 261 miles per gallon). Plus, the XL1 can go up to 50 kilometers on its battery power alone. Coefficient of drag is a miniscule 0.189, thanks to a tiny frontal area and an obviously slippery shape.
XL1 power comes from a two-cylinder diesel motor connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the 20 kW electric motor is fed by a lithium-ion battery. Both combine to give the XL1 performance figures that are, while not stirring, not shabby considering its extreme frugality: 0-62 miles per hour comes up in 12.7 seconds and top speed is nearly 146 mph.
