For bid is my 2001 Beetle. It is a beautiful bright blue with a cream interior. It is in very nice condition, with only a few small blemishes to the lower passenger side where it rubbed the curb, as it sets very low. Paint is very shiny and bright. I bought this car about 4 years ago as an extra driver, but have not driven it enough to justify keeping it. It runs fantastic and gets about 24 to 26 mpg. The way it is geared this 2.0 liter 5 speed will go over most hills without shifting. Interior in in nice condition, with lots of options. Power windows, power locks, keyless entry, multi disc cd player in trunk with Monsoon am fm cd player in dash. Heated seats and power sliding pop up sunroof along with cruise control, clock, and outside temp. Front tires are winter treads with about 500 or less miles. Rear tires have about 1/4 tread. New battery this spring. Now for the small problems. The check engine light is on even though it has been covered with something. The diagnosis is oxygen sensor. When I bought the car the light was on, and I replaced the lower sensor. It came back on so I took it to VW and they replaced the cat conv, which was on recall. The light came back on, so this time I replaced the upper sensor. It came back on. I talked to a couple of mechanics, and they said with the ethanol in the gas I might as well forget it, so I did !! I unplugged the seatbelt bell wire. and that caused the air bag light to come on. The brakes act up and make an odd noise off and on, but the brakes are good. Now with that said, this is a nice little car. I would not be afraid to hop in and take it anywhere. The NADA retail on this car is around $5400. Here is your chance to own a great bug at a great price. Ask any questions and I will be glad to answer. I will also be glad to meet you part way if you are driving a distance, contact me and we can make arrangements. Thanks, and good luck.

Autoblog Podcast #327:
Volkswagen Group names Paefgen head of classics program
Tue, 04 Oct 2011You may remember the name Franz-Josef Paefgen. Until recently, the German engineer and executive was head of both Bentley and Bugatti. Before that he was chief executive of Audi, after working for several years at Ford. He technically "retired" earlier this year, but like the cars he helped create, an executive like Paefgen could never really retire. So it should come as little surprise that the Volkswagen Group has named Dr. Paefgen head of its Classic program.
In his new capacity, Paefgen will oversee the historic automobile activities of the entire VW Group, including those of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and of course Bentley and Bugatti. It strikes us as a suitable semi-retirement for the man responsible in no small part for the Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Mulsanne, to name just two, and who was decorated in 2006 by the ACO as the "Spirit of Le Mans" for his contribution to endurance racing. Read the official announcement after the break.
Anti-UAW VW workers move to form own union
Sat, 30 Aug 2014The struggle over unionization at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. There's now a second union fighting to organize at the plant; although this one is staunchly against the actions of the United Auto Workers. At the same time, the UAW is still signing up voluntary members to its recently created Local 42 at the facility and is reportedly near having a majority of the hourly employees on its side.
The new, anti-UAW union campaign is being spearheaded by employee Mike Burton, according to Reuters, and he calls his group the American Council of Employees. He claims to already have 108 signatures in support of his organization. Burton believes that the UAW is harmful to businesses, and his goal is to force another vote to determine a preferred union among workers.
The UAW was initially defeated (712 to 626) when it attempted a union vote at the Tennessee plant in February. However, UAW secretary-treasurer Gary Casteel told Reuters that Local 42 has already signed up over 700 members. If it can reach a majority of the roughly 1,500 employees, the group hopes VW might consider recognizing it as the factory's union.
