I have reveived many compliments on my Bug. I am the 3rd owner. I have owned it since April of this year. The top is appx. 5 years old and in good condition(NO rips NOR tears NOR leaks). I blew the 1776 and had an 1835(New) installed in July. It currently has appx. 600 miles. Dual Kadrons, remote oil filter w/ 1.5qt deep-sump oil pan, 55amp alt., electronic ignition, 8-pin, lightened flywheel, 1700# clutch, short throw shifter w/ custom lever, new EMPI 8-spokes and new tires(300m); 185/65-205/65-15. "IF" one wants to restore it to original/new condition, it could use a new dash, new glass/windshield/frames/rubber, classic, low-back buckets, carpet. However, in it's current conditon, it has been previouly entered in a few, local, Reno Summer shows. No one that has seen or driven this auto, dislikes it. I am working on grad school and moving to another part of the country by the end of the year. It was a nice project, but I no longer have a place to store it for the Winter nor the time nor the effort to continue this labor of love...

Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva
Sat, 02 Mar 2013With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.
Tanner Foust checks out his new VW Beetle GRC rally car
Thu, 11 Sep 2014Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.
VW launches special edition Touareg X
Tue, 03 Dec 2013Volkswagen is no stranger to special editions, but its Touareg SUV has remained largely unspecial in terms of exclusive trims or unique packages. That's changed with the announcement of the Touareg X, a 1,000-unit run based on the V6 TDI Lux trim - mid-range diesel model, between the navigation-equipped TDI Sport and the TDI R-Line.
The already special Touareg gets 19-inch "Moab" wheels, LED taillights (to go along with its LED DRLs) and "Touareg X" badging, while all 1,000 units will be painted Moonlight Blue Pearl. Tweaks in the cabin are equally light, with a black-on-black-on-black color scheme dominating - black Vienna leather, a black headliner and piano black trim. Aluminum bits make an appearance in the form of the door sills and pedals, although that's about it.
Other than those few aesthetic tweaks, the Touareg X is equipped largely like the Touareg Lux on which it's based. That means navigation, a panoramic sunroof, power seats, LED running lights, dual-zone air conditioning and heated power seats, among other tech pieces. Pricing starts at $56,170, making for a slight bump of $1,195 over the standard Touareg Lux.
