2001 Volkswagen Beetle GLS Hatchback 2-Door 2.0L

I am selling this car, only because it is Manual Transmission and my son feels more comfortable driving an automatic.

It is a very nice little car and gets REALLY good gas mileage.  It runs great and looks nice.  No significant body or interior issues, other than a few tiny dings on the passenger door and a small patch of rust on passenger side (see pictures).

It has heated seats, power windows and locks. IT has AC but I think it needs charged, I turned it on and it doesn't blow cold air.
There is a sun roof, and the tires are still good.  The "check engine" light is on and stays on, we have not figured out why.  It came on shortly after we purchased the car from a VW dealer.

On a few occasions an EPC light has come on, but it goes out and does not come back on until after several trips in the car.

This is, of course,  buyer pick-up only.  We are located near the town of Punxsutawney Pennsylvania.

$200.00 Paypal deposit is required within 48 hours of winning auction. Deposit in Not refundable, due to the fact that if you change your mind, we will have  delays in getting car sold.

If you win the auction, please contact us within that 48 hours to make arrangements as to when you can come for the car.  Must be picked up within 10 days of auction end, unless paid for in full via paypal.  IF you pay in full via paypal, you can have one month to make your arrangements.  We Can NOT accept personal Checks.  Must have either certified cashier check, money order or cash, thank you.

Title will be transferred on day of pick up unless other arrangements are made once car is paid in full.  The notaries in our area are usually open M-F  with some Saturday hours

Thank you for looking, and have a nice day. :)

Lamborghini and Bentley may hold off on SUVs so VW can conserve cash

Thu, 11 Oct 2012

After surveying the European economic scene, Volkswagen may have decided now is not the time to launch utility vehicles with Bentley and Lamborghini badges. Bentley officials say they will continue to push for support for the EXP 9 F and Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman has said planning for the Urus will continue until VW tells it to stop.
That decision could come on November 23, when VW's board will vote on the company's budget for equipment, factories and vehicles. With VW's sales slowing and the Euro economy slumping further, some industry watchers say the company is more likely to build its cash reserves than to introduce super-expensive luxury SUVs or crossovers.
"Such vehicles are anything but obligatory during a crisis," says Frankfurt-based Equinet AG analyst Tim Schuldt in a new Automotive News Europe story. "Delaying their launch would be no drama but help save costs."

Next-gen Volkswagen Golf R spied while running the 'Ring

Tue, 16 Apr 2013

The launch of a new Volkswagen Golf is never a small thing, and things are already looking up for the subcompact hatchback after it was named 2013 World Car of the Year. While we've already seen the base and GTI versions of the next-generation Golf, now we're getting our first look at the sportier Golf R.
Although this prototype wears GTI lettering on the front fenders, it's more than just the roll cage and Sparco racing seat hinting that this is something a little more serious. Unlike the Golf and GTI, this car shows that the Golf R will continue to flaunt massive air intakes on each side of the fascia, and the rear of the car (though it's hard to see) has quadruple exhaust outlets. We still don't have an official word on power, but rumors indicate that the next Golf R could be pushing close to 300 horsepower, making it the most powerful production Golf ever. As much fun as we had during our first drive of the Golf R Cabriolet in the cold, snowy French Riviera last month, more power is a warming idea.

VW agrees to halt next-gen rally car development to help others stay in WRC

Sat, 22 Jun 2013

Volkswagen has petitioned the FIA to hold on to the current specifications for cars in the World Rally Championship, according to Autosport.com. The move is evidently an effort to keep as many competitors in the sport as possible, despite the fact that using the current spec racers may actually hurt Volkswagen's chances at winning. The three factory teams currently competing in the WRC are at the end of a three-year homologation cycle at the end of 2013, and new cars are expected to bow next year. But developing new racers could cost as much as $4.7 million.
That price tag would put M-Sport (which fields Ford racers) out of the WRC game for 2014 and would put Citroën participation in question as well. VW has already begun work on the next iteration of its Polo R WRC, and the hatch has nabbed four wins in six rounds this season. Now it appears that car won't bow until at least 2015. The FIA has officially agreed to freeze homologation of new WRC cars until the end of next season.
