This is my dad's other VW.  I'ts a 2002 VW new Bettle with the Turbo Diesel 1.9 L engine.  5 speed manual transmission.  2 door coupe.

Timing belt, water pump and all transmission fluids and filter were replaced 8/19/2013.

The engine runs great, no complications at all.  It runs all day long without a glitch.   Then check engine light is on as well as the airbag light.  the airbag has not deployed, it may be a faulty sensor.

However, this vehicle is not perfect by any means and it is being sold AS IS, NO WARRANTY.

This is a great daily driver and the fuel economy is out of this world,  around 55mpg.   Better mpg's than a Jetta!

The air conditioning is ice cold.  Clutch was just replaced about a year ago.  Tires are in good shape.

the interior of the vehicle has some flaws and it could probably use some upholstery work on the headliner and doors.   No holes in seats.

The engine it has is not the original, it was transplanted from another TDI bettle in 2011, at that time the engine was completely overhauled and the engine had about 100k miles on it.  So this engine only has about 53k miles after the overhaul.

Please don't expect perfection from this vehicle.  It has scratches and little dents here and there.  But it runs all day long and wherever you want.

it has an aftermarket CD player.  cruise control works perfectly.

thanks for looking.

VW Golf GTI wrung out by Chris Harris

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Enthusiasts like nothing more than to crucify modern interpretations of their favorite performance models for failing to live up to some imagined ethos. Even the Volkswagen GTI has suffered its fair share of slings and arrows for growing in size and curb weight. Chris Harris recently spent some time with the all-new MK VII GTI to find out if growing up means giving up on what makes the machine so special.
Judging by his comments, Harris certainly doesn't think so. Yes, the new GTI is considerably more comfortable than its predecessors, but that's hardly a bad thing. The multitude of driving modes actually seem to add depth to the car rather than simply try to force one tool to do many jobs, and Harris even finds the machine's electronic power steering tolerable. As a result, Harris goes so far as to call the Volkswagen GTI "one of the best cars to actually own." How's that for high praise? You can watch the video for yourself by scrolling below.

Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.

Volkswagen throws a Polo-palooza with four new or upgraded models

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Volkswagen unveiled a parade of new and upgraded Polo models at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, including the Polo TSI BlueMotion, Polo TDI BlueMotion, Polo BlueGT and CrossPolo (pictured above). While they will likely never make an appearance this side of the pond, it is fun to see what European subcompact drivers will be driving later this year.
The new BlueMotion models represent the most efficient petrol and diesel options in their class, according to VW. The BlueMotion TDI offers just 73 horsepower from its diesel engine but gives the equivalent of 76 miles per gallon (US) in the EU test. The BlueMotion TSI brings a little more power with its 88-hp petrol engine and has a combined rating of 57 mpg (US) in the EU cycle.
The Polo BlueGT provides a balance of performance and economy, and for the 2014 model, it gains a 9-horsepower boost to its 1.4-liter turbocharged to give drivers 147 hp at the press of the accelerator. This year's car also has an optional Sport Select suspension with electronically controlled dampers to improve handling a bit. It's still fitted with active cylinder management to use as little gas as possible when cruising.
