Up for bid is my 1967 VW Camper Bus. I have owned this Bus for 22 years. I purchased the bus in it's original condition in Boulder Colorado. I moved to

Minneapolis and drove the Bus to Minnesota. It underwent some restoration in those early years. About ten years ago I had it repainted by a professional
body shop. There were no rust issues to repair just minor dings and scrapes. I have never liked rusty old classic's as it's just an unending job doing rust
repair. This Bus has a quality older restoration but it IS NOT the caliber of a Barrett Jackson high end rotisserie restoration. On a scale of one to ten I
would rate it about an (8) eight.

In 1999 I was on my way to a VW meet in St Cloud, Minnesota. At 55 MPH the original engine spun a bearing. Unfortunately, I had to have the Bus towed
home. I put in a rebuilt engine and a better carb. Since 1999 I have driven the Bus less than 500 miles. That would also be the miles on the tires and wheels
I had put on the bus. The Bus runs and drives great. It could be driven anywhere as far as I know.

I am selling because I am old now and just don't use the Bus at all. (500 miles in the last 14 years) The time has come for me to scale down on my toys.
Finally, I don't consider this bus to be show quality, just fun quality. That said I have won best of show, or peoples choice, in the smaller local car shows.
I just purchased a 'Retro Sound" radio for the Bus as my old cassette radio was funky. I did not receive the specific face plate I need for the stock opening
on the dash, so the radio is not yet installed. A face plate is on the way from 'Retro' so I hope to have it installed in a few days. There is a photo of the radio
in my photo gallery.

Thanks for viewing my Bus and good luck bidding.

VW reveals Outback-rivaling Golf Alltrack ahead of Paris

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is getting a baby brother at this year's 2014 Paris Motor Show in the form of a new Golf Alltrack. Like its larger sibling, the little wagon is supposed to offer light-duty off-road driving ability combined with a more rugged look to show it off.
To give the Golf Alltrack that soft-road ability, VW is outfitting the wagon with its latest 4Motion all-wheel drive system from Haldex. The setup can decouple power from the rear-axle when not needed to save fuel. To further improve traction, the Alltrack gets VW's electronic differential lock, and the car can individually brake its inside wheel during hard cornering for better handling.
Volkswagen also wants the Alltrack to be able to visually show that it can handle getting away from the pavement, even though it starts life as a standard Golf wagon. That means jacking up the suspension an extra 0.75 inches and adding black moldings all the way around the car. There are also redesigned bumpers for the front and rear and silver underbody protection, plus new accents like anodized roof rails and silver mirror caps. The interior is essentially unchanged from the wagon, except for altered trim and Alltrack badges.

Volkswagen lays off 500 Chattanooga workers

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

The redesigned Volkswagen Passat has been a decent seller since its debut in 2011, but sales have apparently dropped off enough that the automaker is trimming some of the employees from its Chattanooga, TN assembly plant. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen will be cutting shifts and laying off 500 contracted workers in response to slowing sales.
Currently, the plant has three teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday, but starting May 13, this will be reduced down to two teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. This will be done to reduce dealer inventory (the article says that VW dealers, on average, have a 97-day supply of Passats) and production capacity (currently running at an annual pace of 170,000 units, which is more than the 150,000 annual units the plant was planned to produce).
This, of course, isn't saying that the Passat has been a failure since VW added 200 full-time employees to the plant in February 2012 to keep up with increased demand. The AN article says that automakers frequently overstaff plants during the launch of a new product - or in this case, a new product and a new plant - but eventually reduce the workers as things run smoother and more efficiently.

Volkswagen shows off performance-ish Passat concept

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

As part of its 2013 Detroit Auto Show debut package, Volkswagen has rolled out a sportier version of the Passat sedan, though it's strictly conceptual for now. A small dose of go-fast visuals have been added to the handsome Volkswagen, including 19-inch wheels, carbon-capped mirrors, an advanced front lighting system, LED taillamps and dual exhaust. Some carbon bits and upgraded leather are found inside the cabin, as well.
But the real performance chops come in the form of a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sends 250 horsepower to the Passat's front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. That's a good boost in power over the 170 hp of the base 2.5-liter inline-five, but not quite as potent as the 3.6-liter VR6. A lowered sport suspension and revised electronic steering are also on hand, making things slightly more involving out on the road... we assume.
It's not quite the performance concept we were hoping for, but a more enthusiastic Passat isn't necessarily a bad thing. Scroll down for the press release.
