GO GREEN!!                                              VERY VERY LOW BUY-IT-NOW PRICE!

Up for sale is my beautiful 1977 Pop Top VW Camper Bus. This Camper is one of the nicest Northeast survivors you will see.  Gets attention wherever you go.  The body is not perfect and we call these cars "10 footers" Meaning it looks like a million bucks from 10 feet but if you get closer you will see flaws and know that we have used this bus...Happily!  Having said that- It looks SUPER! The interior is complete and in very nice age for its age, in fact- I wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner restored it awhile back.  Its VERY nice.  The bus features:

  • A 2.0L Fuel Injected Motor- the strongest VW engine available for Buses! (Runs great with TONS of power)
  • Plaid green interior
  • 110V outlets (Just like your plugs at home)
  • Pop-top roof with BRAND NEW tent canvas and screens!
  • FULL kitchen including SINK, PROPANE STOVE, FRIDGE AND FREEZER!
  • Has external RV hook ups
  • Nice NEW carpet
  • SLEEPS 5 comfortably! 2 double beds with an extra cot
  • Good brakes, good glass all around good tires
  • Soft seals all around
  • Travel table for front driver and passenger
  • Manual 4 speed transmission- shifts great and nice clutch!

This Westy is very turn-key and needs nothing (except a new "VW" symbol which I have ordered and will go with the bus)It truly is ready for new adventures with the new owners.  This bus has very few blemishes, please check out all photos - I will be adding more pictures and feel free to ask any questions!  This is a VERY nice driver quality car that will serve its new owners for years to come.

These VW Westys of this era are the best of all worlds.  New enough to have the power, speed and handling you need with the reliability of an air-cooled fuel injected motor yet old enough not to be an 80s square box with no personality.  Own this reliable and functional peace of history!

Please call text or email me with any and all questions and good luck!  857-210-7805

Brazil contemplates safety exemption for VW Kombi as it goes out of production today [w/poll]

Tue, 31 Dec 2013

Brazil: the country of carnivals, indescribable beauty adjacent to abject poverty, Ayrton Senna and old Volkswagen models. Only they're not old - they're new, they're just based on old designs. The original Beetle continued production there long after it had been phased out elsewhere, but the original Kombi van has lasted much longer. That ends today, however, with the iconic VW Microbus ambling out of production on the last day of 2013.
VW kept making the van in Brazil with the original air-cooled 1.2-liter boxer four until 2005, after which the original design was updated with a 1.4-liter water-cooled engine. Today, however, it ultimately falls prey to safety regulations that mandate that all vehicles - no matter how old their design - need to have airbags and ABS, forcing Volkswagen do Brasil to cease production of the Microbus after a 56-year production run. But the latest word is that the Kombi (as it's presently known) could get a stay of execution - or at least a resurrection in short order.
According to reports, the Brazilian government is looking into granting the Type 2 Microbus an exemption from said safety regulations, reasoning that the van was designed long before the advent of airbags and ABS. If the measure goes through, the Kombi Last Edition (pictured above) could prove not to be the last at all. So what do you think, should the Microbus get an exemption from Brazilian safety regulations for nostalgia's sake? Vote in our poll below, then have your say in Comments.

VW debuts Get Happy Super Bowl ad

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Brace yourself for another tidal wave of Super Bowl commercials. Volkswagen has released its spot for this year's big game. Set to air during the second quarter, the Get Happy spot follows one jubilant office worker as he makes his way through the day, spreading joy wherever he goes. The source of his happiness? A Volkswagen Beetle, of course. Now, if you're wondering why a gaggle of white guys are running around on your screen with Jamaican accents, it will help to know the spot is part of a larger Get Happy campaign featuring Jimmy Cliff.
The first ad in the series featured the artist singing his rendition of "C'Mon, Get Happy," complete with a little help from some notorious unhappy YouTube stars. You can take a look at the new ad before it airs below, along with the complete press release for a little more background.

Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.
