Up for sale is a great running, low mile 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon.

Van would make a perfect daily driver.

Engines starts right up and idles smoothly.

Engine feels strong and handles the Rocky Mountains very well.

4 speed transmission is smooth and feels very solid.

Clutch still has a lot of life left in it,

Van rolls very smoothly and straight down the road.

The Van has 4 new tires with about a thousand miles on them.

Interior is nice shape. All upholstery is clean.

Carpet is good condition. There are a few areas that are worn in the carpet (will be shown in photos below).

Dash is in great condition and free of cracks.

All interior panels are clean and in good condition.

All gauges and instruments function well, except the odometer. Previous owner estimates that it broke a few thousand miles back.

There is an aftermarket Cd player and speakers in the van.

Van has a new Everstart battery.

Exterior is in overall good condition. It does have normal chips and dings; as to be expected for a 29 year old vehicle.

Paint and  is in overall good condition; has a nice shine and luster; the roof however is faded.

There is some damage to the passenger side quarter panel lip ( pictured below).

I've tried to take pictures and note all the little damage to the van.

The windshield is cracked, but is still useable.

Undercarriage is clean and rust free.

Vehicle does have a free and clear title.

Overall this is a very solid van that runs great.

I wouldn't hesitate to jump in it and go cross country.

Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept is a 201-mph hot hatch

Sun, 20 Apr 2014

This, friends, is what happens when you shoehorn 395 horsepower into a Golf. You get a three-door hatch that will happily scurry to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 201 mph. Oh yes, we like you, Golf R 400 Concept.
As we explained in our original post, the R 400 is the long-awaited successor to bonkers Golf creations like the GTI W12 from 2007 and, more recently, the Design Vision GTI. It's powered by the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in a number of Volkswagen (and Audi, SEAT and Skoda) products, although it's been heavily massaged to pump out 332 pound-feet of torque along side its amplified horsepower.
Naturally, it's been lowered and now rides on 19-inch wheels. Outside of those changes, though, mums the word on suspension and chassis enhancements. While this is a bummer, the striking looks of the Golf R 400 more than make up for it.

Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once - especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015.
The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well.
For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan - both long rumored to be on their way out - will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment.

Volkswagen Group names Paefgen head of classics program

Tue, 04 Oct 2011

You may remember the name Franz-Josef Paefgen. Until recently, the German engineer and executive was head of both Bentley and Bugatti. Before that he was chief executive of Audi, after working for several years at Ford. He technically "retired" earlier this year, but like the cars he helped create, an executive like Paefgen could never really retire. So it should come as little surprise that the Volkswagen Group has named Dr. Paefgen head of its Classic program.
In his new capacity, Paefgen will oversee the historic automobile activities of the entire VW Group, including those of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and of course Bentley and Bugatti. It strikes us as a suitable semi-retirement for the man responsible in no small part for the Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Mulsanne, to name just two, and who was decorated in 2006 by the ACO as the "Spirit of Le Mans" for his contribution to endurance racing. Read the official announcement after the break.
