Selling my 1984 WV Wolfsburg Vanagon Westfalia. I have owned the van for nearly 10 years, and am the 3rd owner of this vehicle.

Van is in Milwaukee, WI and has been garaged and not driven all winters. I have only put 12,000 miles on it in the last 10 years but I start it, drive it, and inspect it daily. Last weekend I took it on a 500 mile jaunt with no expected or experienced surprises.

Sad to let it go, but my daily driver (VW TDi Wagon) needs some work, and this is my only way to finance that work.

The pictures speak for themselves. The van is incredibly clean, and all camping equipment works wonderfully. Have performed some repairs / replacements on the camping parts (sink faucet, external city power and water connections, etc.) No tears in the canvas, or screens, and only minimal typical seam surface corrosion, as noted in the photos.

4 speed manual transmission. Odometer reads approximately 160,700 miles. After market cruise control. Pioneer tape deck with aux input. When I purchased the vehicle I went through it, replacing many known points of failure in the coolant system, major brake service at 150,000, suspension work at 154,000. Other maintenance has included tires, water pump, belts, camper parts, etc. New Bosch starter last weekend.

Includes: Bentley Manual, Owners Manual, Camper Manual supplement, Dometic Fridge Manual, many extras like a still-in-the-bag Just Kampers Thermomat set to keep the van warm in the winter and cool in the summer, Go Westy second battery kit (not installed but instructions included), a brand-new marine water hose, pressure regulator for city water connection, etc, etc.

This is an extremely nice camper that it ready for your adventures.

$9,500

Please contact me if you have questions.

Thanks,

Jeremy

VW Up Buggy may be headed to showrooms

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Volkswagen showed six conceptual takes on its Up at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, one of those being the Up Buggy. Although few will probably remember it, VW has not forgotten it, applying for a patent for the Meyers Manx revival roadster way back in March 2012 and being approved in June of this year, according to a report in Autocar. That will give the automaker a 14-year lock on the design while it decides whether to move forward with a reboot of its past.
A patent doesn't mean the Up Buggy will ever move beyond the sheet-of-paper stage, but Autocar says VW is studying the market to see if a production version is feasible. We can't see North America ever getting it, but even so, we wouldn't complain if they made it - especially if they put an exposed engine in back that was set off by 18-inch-long twin tailpipes jutting straight up into the air. However, for a company that aims to be the world's number-one automaker by 2018, a niche vehicle for its mass-market brand would be a surprising use of resources.

Tanner Foust checks out his new VW Beetle GRC rally car

Thu, 11 Sep 2014

Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.

Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.
