1987 Volkswagon Vanagon on 2040-cars
Santee, California, United States
This van is ready to roll. Good condition a few bumps and bruises aside. The van has been garaged for the most part for the last 2 years (just a few outings to the mountains here and there).
The engine was replaced by the original owner after 150,000 miles and the previous owner replaced the transmission (about 50,000 miles ago). I have performed regular maintenance and the engine runs beautifully.
There are a few scrapes/scratches on each of the corners of the bumpers and a rust spot below the windshield. Other than that the body of the van is great. The interior is almost perfect, very well taken care of.
All the original bells and whistles are included. Head rests, window shades, side panels to the removable rear facing seats.
I also have a good sized box full of maintenance records including the receipts for the engine and transmission as well as very meticulous notes about oil changes/gas fill-ups and mileage (it gets about 18 mpg).
I'm bummed to be selling it but I no longer have any good reason to keep it. Gotta move on.
I purchased the vehicle from the 5th owner in Oakland a couple years ago. The original owner, as you will be able to see by his records, was very meticulous. I used it as a daily commuter/camping van for about a year then put it in my mom's garage. I've only really used it for a couple big trips in the past couple years so I can't really justify taking up the space in the garage anymore.
Everything still works besides the AC. Power locks are good, speakers are good, power mirrors are good. I did bust one mirror off a few years ago and haven't gotten around to fixing it properly but the lines are still connected and functional. The mirror is still on the van though, just not properly epoxied.
A deposit of $500.00 at the end of the auction on pay pal. From there we can work out delivery or pickup arrangements.
for a full album of photos send me a message and I'll send you the link. e bay won't let me post non-clickable links and I don't know how to do it any other way.... |

2013 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo Convertible
Wed, 10 Apr 2013Less Flower, More Power
Pardon our political incorrectness for a moment, but the Volkswagen New Beetle was, undeniably, a "chick car." There was almost nothing that the New Beetle offered to enthusiasts (of either gender), and by the end of its run, VW had even stripped all of the exciting engines from the car's lineup. Looking to resurrect some of the excitement behind the Beetle, the third generation of the iconic car ditched the cuteness when the coupe debuted for 2012, and now the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible aims to show how much fun drivers can have without a top.
Celebrating almost six and a half decades of the Beetle convertible, Volkswagen is offering a trio of distinct special editions that celebrate three of the car's most popular decades (the '50s, '60s and '70s), but as one of the unofficial cars of the 1960s, it would almost be a crime not to test this version, right? Besides, this is also the only special edition to get the turbocharged engine. While our first drive of the 2013 Beetle Convertible was in the fuel-miser TDI variation, our two-week romp in the 2013 Beetle Convertible '60s Edition came just as peak convertible weather was kicking off down in Florida.
Toyota reclaims global sales crown, GM and VW not far behind
Mon, 28 Jan 2013TheDetroitBureau.com reports Toyota has retaken the global sales crown. The Japanese automaker turned out 9.75 million vehicles last year, putting it just ahead of General Motors, with 9.29 million vehicles. Volkswagen, meanwhile, filled out the podium by building 9.1 million units in 2012.
Still, Toyota numbers fell just below projections the automaker made earlier in the year, due largely to a fierce territorial dispute between Japan and China that has seen mainland buyers shun Japanese goods. But the news marks a substantial comeback for Toyota. The company fell to third place in the global production race in 2011 after tragic earthquake and tsunami caused several plant closures.
In Japan, Toyota enjoyed a sales increase of 35 percent over the previous year, while the company's worldwide sales jumped by 23 percent thanks in part to new additions to the Prius line. The automaker is forecasting yet another increase for 2013, with the company projecting to reach 9.91 million units this year. Neither Volkswagen nor GM have released their own projections just yet.
VW recalls 1.1M Jetta, Beetle models in US, China over suspension fears
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Volkswagen is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in China and North America in a newly announced campaign affecting the rear suspensions on some models. For the US, the action covers about 442,265 vehicles, including 400,602 examples of its 2011-2013 Jetta and 41,663 units of the 2012-2013 Beetle and Beetle Convertible. According to Reuters, the recall affects a further 126,000 vehicles in Canada and about 581,090 in China, including related market-specific models like the Sagitar.
The problem can occur if the affected models have a collision to the rear or the side-rear of the vehicle. It's then possible for the trailing arms on the torsion-beam rear suspension to be damaged. If the harm isn't noticed, then the part could fracture while driving. Obviously, a broken rear suspension is going to have an adverse effect on handling.
To fix things, VW dealers will inspect the trailing arms on the models, and they will all receive a sheetmetal part that will make a distinctive sound if broken in the future. If already damaged, the entire torsion beam will be replaced. Obviously, this work will be done at no charge to owners.
