White 1977 Volkswagen Bus on 2040-cars

US $2,500.00
Year:1977 Mileage:55908
Location:

Edinburg, Texas, United States

This bus was handed down to me after a friend of mine passed away. I have had it for almost a year and was trying to turn it into a little side project. It does not run however, I was told by the original owner that all it needs is a new starter and some electrical work to get it running. I purchased a brand new bosch starter for it and spark plugs, however I still never got around to getting it running (I have zero mechanical skills.) My main purpose for taking over this bus was to use it as a mobile photo booth for my photography business but the project has taken up too much time for us and we would prefer to get it into the hands of someone who knows what they are doing.

The inside of the bus was a disaster but for the most part, we cleaned it out and i put hardwood flooring in it. We painted it a little as well, however its not a professional interior paint job by any means. I also tinted all the windows minus the driver and passenger side windows and windshield. I also replaced most of the window seals

Since I am no mechanic, I cannot say 100% what exactly it needs to start running, but the bus does have everything it needs (from engine to spark plugs) to function as long as someone can give it the TLC it needs.

Other minor issues include,

cracked windshield,
sunroof seal leaks
door hinges need cleaned and lubed
tires need replaced along with lug nuts
brakes (it might just need fluid)
starter needs to be properly attached
some lights need to be replaced
minimal rust in some areas of the body (mainly on the floor around the pedals and passenger side) However, I puttied up the holes and are not visible.

I was able to use this bus for a few of our events (We had to tow it)

The milage only shows 56,000 miles on it.

I also have both rear and front bumpers which are not attached to the bus in the photos
I also have the middle and passenger seats. I removed the passenger seat to clean the area
and I removed the middle seat to allow us to use it as a photo booth, however it can be put back in

Next Volkswagen Golf R to get 286 horsepower?

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't launched in the United States just yet, but we're already setting our sights on the range-topping R model. According to Autocar, the next Golf R will be more powerful than the current version, producing 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful production Golf ever.
Powering the new Golf R will be a further evolution of Volkswagen's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, and when mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the hotter hatch will reportedly be able to sprint to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat. That's over half a second quicker than the current US-spec model.
Other updates for the new Golf R include the addition of VW's Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive system found in the latest iteration of 4Motion. Furthermore, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new R is expected to weigh in around 2,650 pounds - that's a massive 675 pounds less than the current US-spec car. The exhaust has reportedly been reworked to provide more aural delight, as well.

VW investigating Golf water leak discovered by car magazine

Sat, 07 Sep 2013

Volkswagen is in a spat with German magazine Auto Bild over claims that its new, seventh-generation Golf may already need a recall. The German weekly reports that new Golfs can leak water into front-passenger footwells due to a faulty drainage tube in their air conditioning systems.
And while the fix itself doesn't sound too terrible, because Volkswagen bases so many cars off the same platform as the Golf, Auto Bild is claiming that 300,000 models could be affected, including the Audi A3 and Seat Leon. That's a very bold claim. For its part, VW is vehemently denying that number, according to Reuters, saying it's aware of the problem and claiming only 46 Golfs need fixing. In addition, it denies that any Audi or Seat models are affected by the issue.
Either way, regardless of how pervasive this leak issue is, North American buyers should rest easy knowing that the problems ought to get fixed by the time the Mk VII Golf finaly reaches our dealerships.

Volkswagen and Funny or Die take humorous spin in 2015 Golf

Wed, 10 Sep 2014

Volkswagen is partnering with Target and Funny or Die in a bizarre ad for the latest Golf starring comedian Rob Huebel, probably best known for his work on Childrens Hospital on Adult Swim.
The commercial is titled The Way Too Helpful Neighbor and stars Huebel as the eponymous neighbor. The challenge is for Huebel to help improve his buddy's apartment before the guy meets his girlfriend's parents for the first time. The obvious way to do that is to slide a new Golf through an actual Target in Texas, while simultaneously showcasing the store's goods and the car's features.
The commercial is airing online now and on TBS during breaks in Conan O'Brien's show, with sneak peaks during other programs on the network. Auto advertising is becoming pretty normal for Funny or Die at this point, though, with the site previously partnering with Fiat for several videos. Check out the ad above and see if you think it works. Scroll down for VW's announcement.
