Front suspension replaced w new Bilstein shocks, new strut mounts, new lower control arms and bushings, new brake pads front and rear, tires about 70% tread. All filters and fluids replaced, also. Just replaced the headliner.

For sale by dealer: Land Auto Pro.  I am a licensed dealer and rebuilder in the state of Georgia.  I bought this Golf from an insurance company in Knoxville TN. The car had front end damage. I replaced the hood, both fenders, front bumper, radiators and support, suspension and airbags w original VW parts from another Golf parts car.  I have repainted the front end and looks really nice. The car was inspected by GA DMV inspector in person and they have issued a GA Rebuild Title.  I have the title on hand, no liens. The car is sold as is where is, GA customers are required to pay sales tax.  For out of state customers I can pick up from ATL (Atlanta) airport which is about 1 hr south of my place.

This car is really clean inside and outside, the engine runs smooth, transmission shift easy, the clutch is a bit sporty: grabs quick but it holds the load of torque w no slippage.  I have been driving this car daily for the past month and it's just awesome. The chip upgrade gives the Golf a sporty character, hp might not look impressive but 200+ torque moves this car pretty fast and it keeps pace with GTIs every day turning an amazing 40-50mpg fuel economy.  It takes about 12-13gals to fill the tank and goes up to 600 miles a tank easy. The Bilstein suspension is about 20% stiffer than stock and keeps the front end in check. This is the best combination for daily driving: plenty of power and great fuel economy. The ride is really smooth, not harsh, firm enough to feel sporty. The car has the normal wear and tear you can expect form an 8 year old car with a 100k miles: few rock chips, parking lot dings, small scratches here and there, drives door panel has a little wear/bumps on the side, but nothing major. All in all it is a clean car that has been well maintained by the prev owner. I checked all components on the car and there are no DTCs or issues to worry about.

Next Volkswagen Golf R to get 286 horsepower?

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't launched in the United States just yet, but we're already setting our sights on the range-topping R model. According to Autocar, the next Golf R will be more powerful than the current version, producing 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful production Golf ever.
Powering the new Golf R will be a further evolution of Volkswagen's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, and when mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the hotter hatch will reportedly be able to sprint to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat. That's over half a second quicker than the current US-spec model.
Other updates for the new Golf R include the addition of VW's Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive system found in the latest iteration of 4Motion. Furthermore, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new R is expected to weigh in around 2,650 pounds - that's a massive 675 pounds less than the current US-spec car. The exhaust has reportedly been reworked to provide more aural delight, as well.

1000-hp Mk1 VW Golf is terrifyingly cool

Tue, 04 Jun 2013

There are plenty of things to love about the Mk1 Volkswgen Golf. The machine's horsepower isn't one of them. From the factory, the little hatch cranked a breathy 112 horsepower from the most robust form of its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. Boba motoring, however, has taken that figure and multiplied it by a factor of nearly 10. If 1,000 horsepower sounds terrifying in a machine with a wheelbase of just 94.5 inches, it should. A massive Garrett GTX4202R turbo force-feeds the little mill through a tweaked 16-valve KR head. The crew calls the beast the 16Vampir, and we think that's fitting.
Of course, we'd wager you quit reading right about the time you set your eyes on that headline. Those of you who've stuck around this long can point yourselves below to see the maniacal creation in action. You won't be disappointed.

VW readying CC Shooting Brake?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.
