Model Overview
Volkswagen's popular Golf entered its sixth generation in 2010 and it returns to the crowded compact hatchback market for 2011 with few changes. For 2011, the Golf 2.5 and TDI come as either 2- or 4-doors. Power for the Golf is delivered to the front wheels by either a 170-hp 2.5L inline-5 or 140-hp turbocharged direct injection (TDI) 4-cylinder diesel, which produces a hefty 236 ft-lb of torque. A 5-speed manual is standard on the 2.5 2-door, while a 6-speed manual with Tiptronic is the only available option for the 4-door--combining manual capabilities with VW's Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), which features a dual clutch system that produces incredibly fast and precise for optimal engine performance. The TDI has a 6-speed manual standard, while the automatic gearbox is available. The Golf is a nimble handler and benefits from MacPherson struts and a stabilizer bar up front, with fully independent 4-link system and stabilizers in the rear. Standard features on the Golf include dual exhaust tips, halogen headlights, heated power mirrors, single-zone climate control, cruise control, 8-speaker AM/FM CD player with MP3 capability, 8-way manually adjustable front seats, a 60/40 split flat-folding rear seat, and one-touch power windows. The TDI adds fog lamps, tinted glass, 17-inch alloy wheels, a premium touch-screen stereo with in-dash 6-disc CD changer and MP3 and satellite radio capability, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity and leather appointed steering wheel and shift knob. The Golf does not lack for standard safety features. Technology designed to keep the car upright include Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) and Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), which features Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) and Engine Braking Assist (EBA), which prevents compression-induced skidding in slick conditions. Anti-lock brakes with brake pressure distribution and brake assist are also standard, as are six front airbags. Rear passenger side thorax airbags are optional.Popular standalone options on the Golf 2.5 include several alloy wheels of both 17- and 18- inch sizes, a sport body kit and power sunroof, while buyers can add Bluetooth and heated seats on the inside. On the TDI, Xenon headlights are available, as is DVD navigation and a 300-watt Dynaudio amp and speaker system.

You are bidding on a vehicle in fully drivable condition.  Recently, it was purchased from the insurance company as a flood vehicle, although there were no signs of flood damage anywhere in the car.  It was drivable and everything worked in it.  It is currently not registered. Buyer will have to register it in his state of residence, which may or may not involve some extra steps compared to registering a clean title vehicle. We can help registering it in California at buyer's request (reg. fee will apply).  The owner is motivated to sell.

If you have any other questions about the vehicle please feel free to email us or contact us directly at (916)757-8750

Bid only if you are serious about buying the vehicle.  Buyer is responsible for delivery. I will do my best to assist with it.  A small deposit (through Paypal, bank wire or straight deposit) must be transferred within 48 hours of the auction's end or I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle.  The balance due is payable within five days from the auction's end.  Paypal is only accepted for the initial deposit, not for the balance due.  The vehicle is sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" with no warranty expressed or implied.  Powertrain warranty can be purchased separately.  Contact me for details.  Bidders are urged to inspect before placing bids.  Mileage could be slightly higher at the time of delivery.  Buyer to pay 7.75% CA sales tax, which will be waived in his state of residence.  You will not have to pay this tax if you ship the vehicle or if you are a licensed dealer.  If something is not in the pictures, it probably does not come with the vehicle (e.g. manuals, extra keys, etc.)  Mandatory pre-purchase inspection (Carchex.com) will be required at buyer's expense unless buyer decides to waive it.  For more info or transaction details, e-mail me using the "ask seller a question" feature.  I reserve the right to cancel the listing at any time if the car is no longer available for sale for any reason.

Volkswagen breaks 40-year-old sales record in 2012

Sun, 13 Jan 2013

The last time Volkswagen moved this many vehicles in America in one year, Richard Nixon was still a President in good standing, Let It Be was a radio hit and each car wearing the VW badge boasted an air-cooled engine. That's right, with a grand total of 580,286 vehicles sold in the US last year, the VW Group has broken its own four-decades-old sales record by 2,899 vehicles.
Of that 580k total sold, 438k were Volkswagens and 139k were Audi products - increases of 35.1 percent and 18.5 percent, respectively, in year-over-year sales. The ultra-premium members of the VW group also fared well; Bentley delivered 2,315 vehicles for a 23.3-precent increase, and Lamborghini delivered 520 units for a 52.9-percent jump. Bugatti, we're told is "right on track."
Jetta (pictured) sales paced the marque with 170k models sold, and Passat also finished very strong with sales of 117k total. Tiguan also racked up its best year on file, with 31,731 models shifted.

Carlex Criollo is a Volkswagen Multivan shrine to Alcantara, leather and... fish

Wed, 10 Jul 2013

A keen angler recently went to Polish tuner Carlex Design (the same folks who did that steampunk Mini Countryman a while back) for a revamp of his Volkswagen Multivan. What resulted is perhaps the most striking - yet fishing-unfriendly - interior we've ever seen in a van. Below the shoulder line, if a surface isn't covered in cross-stitched Alcantara, then it's covered in cross-stitched leather. Even the steering wheel airbag boss. And the seat supports. And the cupholders.
The brown hue of the Multivan's interior is called Criollo, named for an especially fine specimen of cocoa. The finishing touch on the overhaul is a fileting knife that Carlex made for the owner. We imagine he'll use the knife for the marine life, but keep his van far away from it.

UAW tactics called into question at VW's TN plant

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

The United Auto Workers is in hot water with some of the very workers it is trying to unionize at Volkswagen's Chattanooga assembly plant. According to The Tennessean, eight Volkswagen factory workers have filed complaints against the UAW with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the union "misled or coerced" them into formally asking for union representation.
The UAW has instituted a major push at the Chattanooga plant to represent the 2,500 hourly laborers that build the VW Passat by using what's called a card-check process. The tactic is opposed by the National Right to Work Legal Defense foundation, the group representing the workers. The card-check process demands that a company recognize a union that obtains the signatures of more than half its workforce, according to The Tennessean. This tactic is in contrast to the more traditional route, which sees employees vote on union representation.
The workers filing the complaint claim that the UAW told them the cards merely called for a secret ballot, rather than an outright demand for union representation. Workers also allege that the UAW has made it overly difficult to reclaim their signed cards, some of which were signed so long ago that they have been rendered invalid. Although the cards can force a company's hand, federal law still allows the company to ask for a secret ballot before yielding to unionized workers.
