Here's a very rare green/teal 2002 Jetta TDI wagon *5 speed* (I get 42-44mpg around town and close to 50mpg highway) ... options: tan cloth heated seats, power moonroof, power windows, locks, keyless entry, vent shades. Kenwood 7" in-dash tilt screen Garmin GPS with traffic, DVD player, touchscreen radio, USB, iPod player ... this radio is super nice and was originally close to $1000!

- Exterior: paint shines very nicely, there are typical scratches here and there - scratch on drivers door is the only noticeable one. No real dings or dents on the body. As you can see in the photos the car is in very nice cond. overall ... I'd say 8.5-9/10
- Interior: seats are in very nice condition with no stains ... they are heated cloth (tan) ... floors are near perfect with no stains or wear. Door panels are in very nice shape with a slight seperation of fabric which is typical ... headliner has no sags anywhere it could use a cleaning. Note: I do have the middle headrest for back seat and will include it with the sale.
- I just detailed the car and it will need nothing when picked up and driven.

- Mechanical ... the following parts are new:
- all 4 tires within last 1000 miles
- all four struts/shocks and springs
- brakes are near new
- recently passed a strict PA inspection (insp. thru July 2014)

... all power options work including cruise control and air conditioning (VERY COLD) ... 5 speed manual trans shifts perfectly and car drives nicely. Starts right up, turbo works great with no unusual smoke or noises. This car runs great and has tons of life left ... obvious highway mileage based on cond. I have it priced accordingly and if you are looking then you know how hard these wagons are to find.

I have sold other cars on eBay and many other things ... my feedback speaks for itself so offer/buy with confidence.
I am located 20 min from the closest train, bus station and airport (all in Harrisburg, PA) ... I can negotiate without the radio ... any other questions please ask prior to purchase ... if you have multiple questions call (text) 717-seven zero 1-five three 75 ... scammers don't bother the sale and payment procedure are only as stated ... thanks, Matt

Volkswagen Multivan Alltrack Concept takes the luxury van life off road

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Volkswagen dug into its commercial vehicle fleet for its latest Geneva Motor Show concept, blending the versatile body of the T5 MultiVan with a luxuriously appointed interior, 4Motion all-wheel drive and a thrifty diesel powertrain.
That 177-horsepower diesel engine routes its power to the AWD system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Based on that alone, we'd expect the Multivan Alltrack's behind-the-wheel experience to be somewhat familiar. That all-wheel-drive system and van body contribute to the 21-degree approach and 15-degree departure angles of this soft-roading MultiVan.
What wouldn't be familiar is its exquisite cabin. Volkswagen opted for a nautical theme for the concept's interior, featuring grey-blue leather seats from Poltrona Frau and a floor finished in real wood. The dark wood trim can also be found throughout the interior, running below the windows and on the dash.

2014 Volkswagen XL1 [w/video]

World's Most Efficient Car Impresses, Not Without Compromises
Among our many duties at the recent Geneva Motor Show, we were offered a pretty exclusive drive in the new Volkswagen XL1 hyper-efficient plug-in diesel hybrid. There is so much that is interesting about a car like this reaching production from a major automaker that it's tough to know where to begin.
First off, you should know that - at least for this generation - there is absolutely no chance in Albuquerque that this "1-liter vehicle" (i.e. a vehicle that can burn just one liter of fuel to travel 100 kilometers, or 62.1 miles) will ever make it into the hands of North American customers. We, too, were having trouble imagining an XL1 in typical American traffic, surrounded by comparatively massive pickups and SUVs. The driving experience had us recalling a couple of weeks in 1999 when we drove the then-revolutionary Honda Insight hybrid on US roads. We keenly remember the feeling of being very small and vulnerable, even as we felt proudly green in our 61-mpg Tochigi pod. Thing is, the Volkswagen is smaller still, and nearly as light despite its more complex drivetrain and safety features.

How VW's hyper-efficient XL1 will influence the next Golf

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

In 2007, the European Union mandated fleet average CO2 emissions of 158.7 g/km. For 2015, that figure will drop to 130 g/km, and the target for 2020 is an ambitions 95 g/km. Thanks to some German politicking, that target will be phased in from 2020 to 2024, but it will still apply to 80 percent of passenger cars in that first year. In US miles per gallon, that's the equivalent of going from about 35 mpg to 42 mpg to 57 mpg. The current Volkswagen Golf is rated from 85 g/km of CO2 to 190 g/km depending on model - and zero for the e-Golf, so for the next-generation MkVIII hatch due in 2019, to meet the goal, Volkswagen engineers will need to introduce a bunch of new tricks. According to a report in Autocar, VW be mining its hyper-efficient XL1 for some of them.
Predictions for the next Golf include a variable-compression engine, an electric flywheel and an electric turbo, along with taking greater advantage of coasting. Volkswagen could be getting help from Audi with the electric turbo and variable-compression engine and electric turbo, with Audi already having shown off the former and brand technical boss Ulrich Hackenberg confirming the VW Group is working on the latter. It's possible the flywheel system could also have the mark of The Four Rings: Autocar mentions a British system that Volvo is testing, but the R18 e-tron Quattro racer has been using one for years.
The need for such features is because the company won't be able to net enough future gains from just aerodynamic improvements and advanced materials. As price will be a factor (the regulations are expected to "add hundreds of euros to the cost of building a car"), adding much more aluminum or carbon fiber is an unlikely option. We're told the next generation won't be longer or wider than the current car, and being Europe's most popular model, VW doesn't want to make a big bet on futuristic aero, but the report says the MkVIII will "likely" have "the most aerodynamic treatment yet seen on a production vehicle," the area where lessons learned from the XL1 will truly be seen.
