What I have is a 2002 Jetta TDI 162,000 miles, Automatic with COLD AC. Power windows and locks. It had the timing belt and intake serviced around 90k. The car is not rusted or dented but its no show car either. Paint has scratches. Inspected until 3/2015. It has a Fossil Free Fuels Waste Vegetable oil conversion on it. Has heaters in the tank, has an auxillary 5 gallon diesel tank to start and shutdown on. Car runs and drives great. Just had it to Newark and back. I drive this car all the time.  Also included with the car; I have an electric gas pump setup for the WVO, 10 55 gallon drums of WVO, 9 full, tenth is my filtered batch and its getting low. Not all is filtered but its 500+ Gallons of Vege Oil.  All my filters, funnels, cans and supplies. Couple Hand crank drum pumps.  If you don't want to get your hands dirty and tinker a bit this isn't the car for you. But if you are handy and don't mind spending some time filtering the oil it can be great. My fuel budget is under $100 for the whole year.  Like I said I drive this car everyday.  It does have an engine light on.  The codes that came up were Glow plug 3 and Pump Timing is off.  Once in a while the car goes into limp mode which just means it shuts down the turbo.  The car still runs but it loses some power when it goes into limp mode.  Usually I just shut the car off and restart it and its back to normal.  I haven't had the time or the money to get the pump timed and the glow plug changed.  Also, so there are no surprises, it may need a starter at some point.  A couple times I went out and it clicked a few times before it started.  It does have a very high powered battery I just purchased last winter.  The only reason I am selling is I am having a second child and I cant sit in the car with a baby seat behind me.  I need to get something with a bigger back seat for the two baby seats.

VW Chattanooga plant very close to UAW representation

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

After months of fighting from both sides, it looks like the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, might unionize under the United Auto Workers after all. According to a letter acquired by The Associated Press, VW and the UAW reportedly struck a deal last spring where the union agreed to stop its challenge of the organization vote with the National Labor Relations Board to help clear the way for the CrossBlue to be produced in Tennessee. In exchange, the automaker would recognize the UAW at the plant. Leaders of the Local 42 at the facility reportedly signed the letter.
It seems that such an agreement would clear the way for the factory to unionize after months of dispute. According to The Detroit News, under Tennessee law, workers aren't required to join the organization. Although, that might not be a problem. As of a few months ago, Local 42 already claimed to have signed around 700 of the plant's roughly 1,500 workers.
Controversy has constantly swirled around the possible unionization at the Chattanooga plant. The UAW held its official decision in February and lost 712 to 626. However, there were allegations of intense political pressure to make sure the ballot failed. A later report also found that VW was offered $300 million in incentives well before the vote to make sure things progressed to the "satisfaction of the State of Tennessee," but the deal was later retracted. In July, the UAW opened Local 42 on the campus in hopes of signing up a majority of the workforce by volunteering to be a part of it.

VW updates Scirocco with revised styling, new engines

Sun, 16 Feb 2014

The Scirocco is undoubtedly one of the better-looking models in the Volkswagen lineup, but introduced back in 2008, it's now been on the market - some markets, anyway - for the better part of six years. VW is said to have an all-new replacement in the works, but before that arrives, the German automaker has announced a facelifted version with revised styling and a new engine lineup.
Set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the new Scirocco benefits from updated styling front and rear, high-tech exterior lighting, a revised cabin space with some throwback retro touches, some new technologies and, of course, an array of fresh wheel options ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
The updated Scirocco will be offered with a wide array of engines right from the get-go, including four gasoline options and two diesels, spanning from 125 horsepower all the way up to the 280-hp Scirocco R. The 2014 model hits European showrooms in August, but unfortunately isn't any more likely to make the transatlantic voyage Stateside than the version it replaces. Still interested? There's plenty to see in the high-res image gallery above and details in the press release below.

Volkswagen offers Beetle Classic, priced from $20,195*

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

The current Volkswagen Beetle already tries to be a fairly retro-looking ride by cribbing styling elements from the iconic original. However, for the new, limited-edition Classic model, VW is hopping into the time machine to grab even more vintage cues. The company is even cutting the price, perhaps in hopes of turning around flagging sales this year. You don't need to wait long for any of these upgrades either because the automaker says that the Classic goes on sale this week for $20,195, *excluding the $820 destination charge. That's $100 less than a bone-stock Beetle.
Starting as a standard Beetle with VW's 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, the Classic edition comes with a six-speed automatic and then adds some retro flair. It includes new vintage-look 17-inch wheels with simulated dog dish polished hubcaps over black spokes. It also comes with a rear spoiler, and the automaker is offering the model in Pure White, Black Uni, and Reflex Silver.
The interior mixes in a few more classic touches but includes modern amenities like a standard navigation system, satellite radio and multifunction steering wheel. However, the seats are finished in a two-tone design combining light brown leatherette on the sides and checked cloth centers, plus lumbar support for the driver's side. The shift knob and handbrake also get wrapped in leather.
