Frankfort, Indiana, United States

As listed above, I have a 2006 VW Jetta TDI. The car has 120,XXX miles. It is not in perfect condition, the paint is good some swirl marks but could be buffed out with high speed buffing. The front bumper bottom air intake has a small crack in one of the slates. The wheels have scuff marks where it scrubbed a few curbs. The front tires will need replaced soon, the back tires are almost new. The trunk has an issue, sometimes it won't unlatch. The interior is in good condition, there are a few little tears in the center console leather. The back passenger seat belt has a fray in it. The headlights on the front are glossed over from the sun (seems to be an issue with 06 TDIs). The car has always been garage kept, and serviced at all intervals.

Now, to get to main part... This car has never had an issue until about three months ago. My mother was driving it, and it fell on its face and was dumping black smoke. I pulled it in my shop, threw a new fuel filter on it, started up, but wouldn't stay running for more than a few minutes. I replaced the ASV (Anti-Shutter Valve) and Mass Air Flow sensor. The car started and ran, but still sluggish. I inspected the crank, the timing, etc. etc. everything is in good order there. I recently rebuilt the turbo, and cleaned all the vacuum lines for the N75 valve. At this point, the car runs and drives, but doesn't have the get-up-and-go it use to have. I am sure it is the N75 went bad or something fairly cheap and easy, because I have inspected everything else. I have 2 trucks and this car, and I need to quit putting money into this, so would just like to sell it as is to someone who wants to fix it up and have a very nice fuel efficient vehicle. Like I said, the car is in pretty good shape overall for the year and miles, but it does have a slight issue still. I'm not looking to give it away, so don't send me low-ball offers. Message me with any other questions or more pictures.

Tanner Foust checks out his new VW Beetle GRC rally car

Thu, 11 Sep 2014

Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.

VW builds 250,000th Passat in Chattanooga in just two years

Sun, 26 May 2013

It hasn't been without incident or union organizing drive, but the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN has built its 250,000 Passat in just a little over two years. The Night Blue Passat TDI with black leather has come just two years and five weeks after the first customer car came off the line on April 18, 2011.
In the last year the plant operated at the 150,000-unit capacity that it was intended for, but the downturn in Passat sales and subsequent worker layoffs mean it will be a challenge to repeat the feat. The plant does have the world's largest solar park, though, and you can't take that away from them.
You'll find the official hand-clapping in the press release below.

Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.
