1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia 1.6l Vw Coupe 4 Speed California Car on 2040-cars
Saint Clairsville, Ohio, United States
I am finally ready to let her go! This is a 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe! It has a 1600 Dual Port engine, and a 4 speed manual transmission. It is a great car that spent it's entire life in California, until we moved back here. The interior is in great shape. It has 4 new tires, with less than 100 miles on them. New rotors, and pads in the front. New battery. It doesn't need anything to be a daily driver, although that is not what it has been. I have only had her out a hand full of times, to shows and to car cruises. These are only going to go up in value, and have been for the last few years. It has a little surface rust on drivers door, from some old body work. I purchased a perfect, complete door for her years ago, and it will go with her. I also have a complete set of german glass that will go with her. This is the last one of 6 Ghias that I've owned, so your the lucky one that will get extras, that really are worth a ton of money, for basically free. The car alone is worth the asking price. It has a perfect NEVER hit nose, which is like finding a unicorn! It is the only one I've ever had, that's why I kept her. It has an older repaint, and slight body work here and there, but looks great from 10 feet away. With a little body work and a new paint job($1500), this is a 10-12K car all day long. Sorry for all the numbers, it's just that the last time I thought about selling her I had to explain to a lot of people what it was, and what it was worth. This is the best year, hands down, 12 Volt system, and Disc brakes, and still the cool bumpers, and smaller tail lights. Everything works as it should, but understand, it is 43 years old! If your serious and know what your looking for, please give me a call and come check it out. Thanks Frank Details: Local Pickup Only/ Cash On Pick Up or Paypal within 24 Hours of buying/ I have described the car to the best of my ability and it is being sold as is/ I am not the original owner so I can not verify mileage or anything else from the past. It is a nice little car that would make a great addition to any VW lovers collection. It is also for sale locally and may be ended early. So, if you want it, click buy it, make payment, and come get it. I encourage anyone interested to come check it out, it is ultimately your responsibility to verify that it is indeed what you are looking for. All sales final. I will not let someone take her until payment has cleared, or cash is in hand. Sorry to sound so serious, but it seems from what I've read you have to be. I am not a dealer or car seller for that matter. I've had her for long enough, I've got kids, and lots of bills that's why she is getting a new home. Hopefully a Great One! Thanks |

Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept is a 201-mph hot hatch
Sun, 20 Apr 2014This, friends, is what happens when you shoehorn 395 horsepower into a Golf. You get a three-door hatch that will happily scurry to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 201 mph. Oh yes, we like you, Golf R 400 Concept.
As we explained in our original post, the R 400 is the long-awaited successor to bonkers Golf creations like the GTI W12 from 2007 and, more recently, the Design Vision GTI. It's powered by the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in a number of Volkswagen (and Audi, SEAT and Skoda) products, although it's been heavily massaged to pump out 332 pound-feet of torque along side its amplified horsepower.
Naturally, it's been lowered and now rides on 19-inch wheels. Outside of those changes, though, mums the word on suspension and chassis enhancements. While this is a bummer, the striking looks of the Golf R 400 more than make up for it.
Volkswagen Group previews its wares on eve of Geneva show
Mon, 05 Mar 2012The Volkswagen Group is comprised of 11 brands producing 240 vehicles across 49 factories throughout the world. So the best way to show off the range of the VW family is to cram a few thousand journalists and VIPs into a massive makeshift stand to outline the Group's goals, what's in the pipeline and what you'll be able to buy later this year.
To that end, VW pulled out all the stops on the eve of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, bringing along 10 vehicles from across the range. We'll be delving into the details of each over the next two days of show coverage, but before that happens, you can read all about what we saw tonight from the cheap seats after the break.
Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW
Fri, 14 Mar 2014The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.
