1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia on 2040-cars
Lake Mary, Florida, United States
I am selling a show winning 1971 VW Karmann Ghia. This car was built by Poor Lee Built Customs and I received it in a vehicle trade from the builder. The car is fantastic but I just need to sell it at this time. I was not looking to trade my other vehicle but when this offer came up I couldn't pass it up as it is an awesome car. I was very familiar with this vehicle as I seen it win multiple awards at all the local Volkswagen shows. Only 300 miles on fresh engine rebuild. 4 speed manual transmission and shifts smooth.. Vehicle has air suspension which raises and lowers 3 inches with independent front and rear controls. Excellent Gold flake paint with hand painted fish scales and designs on roof and rear trunk lid. New floor pans. All door handles and lids shaved flush. Custom white leather seats and door panels and black carpet. New brakes, wheels, and tires. The rear windows and trim are out of the vehicle for a super coupe look. I received it like and left it alone since I love the look the builder was going for. I do have all seal, trim, and windows if you choose to reinstall...but I wouldn't. The car spends most of the time sitting in my garage and I drive it once in a blue on a Sunday afternoon. I maybe put 100 miles on in it. I am not having luck with uploading quality pics ao please contact me if you would like better quality pics. I hope this great vehicle goes to someone who will enjoy it!

Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow
Thu, 17 Jan 2013A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.
Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe Concept is an aspirational Jetta
Mon, 21 Apr 2014Meet the Volkswagen baby CC. Okay, that's not really it's name (VW calls it the New Midsize Coupe Concept), but this sleek, four-door coupe draws more than a little inspiration from the CC while riding on VW's MQB platform.
It's a looker, we think, and is an eye-pleasing departure from the bland styling of the current Jetta. The sleeker front end is complemented by a wider body overall (it's wider than a Passat), while the more sporting roofline and the sharp rear fascia gives the New Midsize Coupe a decidedly sporting character. LED head- and taillights add a bit more personality to this already stylish design.
Thanks to its 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder, it should get along rather sportingly, as well. The run to 62 miles per hour takes just 6.5 seconds thanks to the 217 horsepower on offer. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is also fitted, and contributes to an estimated 37 miles per gallon.
1000-hp Mk1 VW Golf is terrifyingly cool
Tue, 04 Jun 2013There are plenty of things to love about the Mk1 Volkswgen Golf. The machine's horsepower isn't one of them. From the factory, the little hatch cranked a breathy 112 horsepower from the most robust form of its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. Boba motoring, however, has taken that figure and multiplied it by a factor of nearly 10. If 1,000 horsepower sounds terrifying in a machine with a wheelbase of just 94.5 inches, it should. A massive Garrett GTX4202R turbo force-feeds the little mill through a tweaked 16-valve KR head. The crew calls the beast the 16Vampir, and we think that's fitting.
Of course, we'd wager you quit reading right about the time you set your eyes on that headline. Those of you who've stuck around this long can point yourselves below to see the maniacal creation in action. You won't be disappointed.
