My 1972 Karmann Ghia Coupe is for sale for $5000.00 or best offer. It has a ball-joint front suspension and IRS rear suspension. Any of the suspension pieces will also fit a ball-joint Beetle (including the disk brakes that came standard on the KGs).

NEW items are:
1: 2110cc VW Type 1 motor with a mild cam, a single 44IDF Weber carb (NOT an EMPI!), Breakerless 009 distributor, High Pressure Oil Pump, external oil filter, degreed crank pulley, alternator, dual outlet extractor exhaust with "J" tubes, and "Doghouse" fan shroud with cooler.
2: Rear axles and CV joints.
3: Front ball joints and 2 1/2 inch dropped spindles.
4: Front and rear Anti-Sway bars.
5: Windshield, windshield and back window rubber.
6: VDO Oil pressure and temperature gauges, small tachometer.
7: EMPI 8-spoke wheels with black spokes and polished rims.
8: Early Beetle-style headlights.

Rebuilt Standard VW IRS Transaxle with Scat shifter.

Body modifications:
All side windows removed and openings smoothed-over, drip rails removed, outside door handles removed and filled, front grilles removed and filled, front turn signals removed and new ones "Frenched" into the front fenders, rear deck scoop formed from steel and welded to the rear deck.

This car is currently on a Non-OP registration, but it is legal (lights, horn, wipers all work, etc.) and I have the pink slip. The mileage shown is what is shown on the odometer, but I can NOT vouch for the correctness of that reading.

The cost of the new parts alone are worth about what I'm asking, even if you don't like the body modifications. I want this car out of my garage, but I know what it's worth, so no silly offers please. E-mail me or call and leave a message if I don't pick up.

Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.

Volkswagen Cross Up! headed for production after Geneva reveal

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

The last time we saw the Volkswagen Cross Up!, it was sitting out in the snow in prototype form, but the next time we'll see this slightly more rugged version of the diminutive Up! hatchback will be when it makes its production debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Looking like a micro-crossover with its raised ground clearance and black cladding, the Cross Up! will be the fourth "Cross" model for VW (after the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran) when it goes on sale this summer in mainland Europe (UK sales remain up in the air and US sales are highly unlikely).
Overall, the styling of the production Cross Up! has stayed fairly true to the 2011 concept car, including the front and rear fascias that offer a more rugged look, stocky 16-inch wheels and roof rack side rails. Inside, this model will get unique interior enhancements such as "Cross Up!" sill plates and an instrument panel available in red, black or silver. Like the regular Up!, the Cross Up! is powered by a 74-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it doesn't look like all-wheel drive will be part of the picture. For more details on the upcoming Cross Up!, check out VW's press release posted below.

Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe Concept is an aspirational Jetta

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Meet the Volkswagen baby CC. Okay, that's not really it's name (VW calls it the New Midsize Coupe Concept), but this sleek, four-door coupe draws more than a little inspiration from the CC while riding on VW's MQB platform.
It's a looker, we think, and is an eye-pleasing departure from the bland styling of the current Jetta. The sleeker front end is complemented by a wider body overall (it's wider than a Passat), while the more sporting roofline and the sharp rear fascia gives the New Midsize Coupe a decidedly sporting character. LED head- and taillights add a bit more personality to this already stylish design.
Thanks to its 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder, it should get along rather sportingly, as well. The run to 62 miles per hour takes just 6.5 seconds thanks to the 217 horsepower on offer. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is also fitted, and contributes to an estimated 37 miles per gallon.
