Non-Smokers car it's whole life!!!!

Purchased car from original owners in late summer 2012.

They had the car since new, it was shipped over from Germany where it was built to their order, and sold in Canada.

Car has been in Nova Scotia and Ontario (mainly), it's whole life.

We used this car everyday for 1.5 years until this past fall.

Tons of safety features, great crash rating, and built better than it's North America equivalents (the Big 3).

Engine is turbocharged, and has lots of pep.

Second set of rims (steel) with proper size winter tires (Michelin X-ice) and OEM VW Hubcaps.  Should get 2-3 seasons out of the winters, see driving habits below.

Nose cone bra included in sale.

Rear seats are a near flat fold down style and have a 60/40 split.

You can fit bicycles inside, car carrier on the roof (longitudinal bars are there from the factory), and there are even tie down loops at the four corners of the trunk compartment.

Full size spare that matches the tire brand/variety installed currently.

All Season tires (Michelin MXV4 195/60-R15) should have 1-2 seasons of driving short commute.  I do not wear out tires much the way the car is driven, your usage may shorten the remaining life.

Trunk does come with a privacy pull across/removable sun shade.  Hides valuables, provides a fun spot to insert Comic character stuffed animals like Sid the Sloth.

Great handling, original OEM Volkswagen suspension parts are on the vehicle.  New axle boot installed last year, OEM axle retained!

Timing belt was changed per OEM service intervals, as were all other maintenance related items.

AC never worked when I owned the car, suspect a leak in the evaporator core per Volkswagen diagnosis before car was purchased.  Car driven with no AC while we owned it.

Heat is great, and all settings work.

Turn signal switch or Hazard switch may be faulty, recall was done for the Hazard switch and new turn signal switch was installed previously to cure random ticking from the Hazard switch.  No problem for turn signal function, just a ticking sound.
Very common problem from what I researched before purchase.  I decided to live with it.  Dealer said ballpark $120 in parts for a signal switch.

Shifter isn't as smooth into 2nd and 3rd, never had it looked at.

Interior is very clean, usual wear on interior door handles (grey comes off and black base material can be seen), seats and carpet in great shape.

Steam cleaned entire interior this fall, car has not been driven this winter except to clean off the brake rotors and keep the battery charged up.

Small spots of surface rust here and there, much less than many cars this age, and one spot under a side moulding trim.

Front glass is in great shape, and has been Aquapel treated or something similar as water beads right off while you are driving in the rain.

1 washer nozzle for the front windshield is loose, may need a replacement to clip back in place, operates fine the way it is now.

Oil always changed with Synthetic to meet Volkswagen oil specs.  These motors run fine with proper oil maintenance.

Little things that are wrong with the car, I have two more cars that need attention including a car that I just rebuilt to drive this upcoming summer; Volks must go!

I have 3 cars now, and the Passat is sitting in a parking spot that I now pay to rent.

This is the nicest handling car I have ever owned, it drives very well.

Fuel economy very good, much better than a V6 model.  Got mid to high, 30+ MPG on the highway.

Vehicle is AS IS, WHERE IS, be aware of this.

Safety inspection, Emissions if you are required to have this for your area, are not part of this sale.

Vehicle should not need much to pass Ontario Safety (if anything), no CEL/Check engine lights and passed E-test with near perfect score (closest to zero values you could get).

Car drives very well, no abnormal noises/sounds that I can detect.

Will be there to help shipping company/hauler, if you are having the car shipped to your location (shipped at buyers expense!)

European car sales up 8% in February

Sat, 22 Mar 2014

Three weeks ago an analyst increased projections for European car sales this year, expecting them to climb three percent compared to last year instead of 2.7 percent. That number is a postive sign after years of hard times but it turns out February was especially good, overall European sales climbing eight percent on a wave of southern European recovery and discounts - and this comes after five months of gains including January's 7.2-percent jump over the year before.
The only country of Europe's five largest markets to post a decline was France, just as it did in January, Germany, the UK and Italy posting solid double-digit numbers, Spain rocking the charts with an 18-percent increase because of a government program to encourage trade-ins.
The only brand to miss the wave was Volkswagen, dropping 0.8 percent as it watched the double-digit growth at sister brands Audi, Seat and Skoda lift the Volkswagen Group sales up by seven-percent. Peugeot overcame flat sales at Citroën to improve the group by 3.5 percent, BMW and the Mercedes-Benz/Smart combo rose by four percent, the Fiat group jumped 5.8 percent, Ford was up 11 percent, the Renault Group 11.5 percent, General Motors 12 percent and the Toyota clan by 14 percent.

Lamborghini and Bentley may hold off on SUVs so VW can conserve cash

Thu, 11 Oct 2012

After surveying the European economic scene, Volkswagen may have decided now is not the time to launch utility vehicles with Bentley and Lamborghini badges. Bentley officials say they will continue to push for support for the EXP 9 F and Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman has said planning for the Urus will continue until VW tells it to stop.
That decision could come on November 23, when VW's board will vote on the company's budget for equipment, factories and vehicles. With VW's sales slowing and the Euro economy slumping further, some industry watchers say the company is more likely to build its cash reserves than to introduce super-expensive luxury SUVs or crossovers.
"Such vehicles are anything but obligatory during a crisis," says Frankfurt-based Equinet AG analyst Tim Schuldt in a new Automotive News Europe story. "Delaying their launch would be no drama but help save costs."

Anti-UAW VW workers move to form own union

Sat, 30 Aug 2014

The struggle over unionization at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. There's now a second union fighting to organize at the plant; although this one is staunchly against the actions of the United Auto Workers. At the same time, the UAW is still signing up voluntary members to its recently created Local 42 at the facility and is reportedly near having a majority of the hourly employees on its side.
The new, anti-UAW union campaign is being spearheaded by employee Mike Burton, according to Reuters, and he calls his group the American Council of Employees. He claims to already have 108 signatures in support of his organization. Burton believes that the UAW is harmful to businesses, and his goal is to force another vote to determine a preferred union among workers.
The UAW was initially defeated (712 to 626) when it attempted a union vote at the Tennessee plant in February. However, UAW secretary-treasurer Gary Casteel told Reuters that Local 42 has already signed up over 700 members. If it can reach a majority of the roughly 1,500 employees, the group hopes VW might consider recognizing it as the factory's union.
