1980 VW Rabbit p/u truck.  No reserve!

Clear title in my name.

It has some rust like all trucks do.  Someone started to fix the strut towers (see pics).  You could complete this or, as shown in the pictures, I have another front clip from a solid car.  The driver floor is the worst (see circled spots in pic).  The bed floor has two visible rust spots and one that looks to be patched with fiberglass (see circled spots in pic).  The fenders are just hanging on for the pictures.  The rear bumper I made for my first Rabbit truck and put it on here.  I do have the factory rear bumper mounts to go with it but the rear bumper was all bent up.

The red interior came out of a parts truck I had.  Includes what you see in the pics.  I do not have red door panels or dash though, they are tan.  The heater fan is missing.  Still has a factory radio.

The extra clip has no rust in the strut towers, but does have some on the right side by the door pillar that would be easy to fix if you use that much when you clip it.  I was going to use all of it because it has good floors that would fix the truck's floor.  The clip is cut behind the middle floor brace.

There is no engine or trans in it now.  It was a diesel.  If you buy it and are interested, I do have a few diesel engines that need rebuilt and also some 5 and 4 speed transmissions that you could buy separately from the truck, but again... NO engine or trans is included in this auction!

I have a loader tractor here to help load everything onto your trailer or truck.  I will also consider delivering this in a somewhat local radius from here, but you MUST message me first to see if I will do it and we will need to agree on a price for delivery as well.  Otherwise pick up is your responsibility.

I have tried to describe this to the best of my ability. Look closely at the pictures.  Ask questions!  We can also arrange for a time to check it out.  I can get more pictures by request too.

TN politicians may push to end VW incentives if plant goes union

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

Volkswagen's Chattanooga Assembly Plant is scheduled to vote on whether to unionize in the coming days, but Tennessee state lawmakers are threatening to deny future tax subsidies to the factory, if the vote is successful. The factory is currently the only Volkswagen plant worldwide that is not unionized.
The states's Republican lawmakers have been particularly vocal against the union vote. Tennessee state senator Bo Watson said during a press conference that VW would have a "very tough time" with future incentives if the vote were successful, according to Automotive News. Tennessee House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick said the "heavy hand" of the UAW is not welcome there. VW has drawn criticism from both sides because it has allowed both pro- and anti-union groups to speak to workers and hand out leaflets.
Roughly 1,500 factory employees will vote on whether to unionize from February 12-14. If successful, the Chattanooga factory would be the first in the US organized under a German-style works council system where white- and blue-collar workers directly negotiate factory issues with the company's management.

VW outsells GM in China for first time in 8 years

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

In case you didn't know, Volkswagen is hell-bent on becoming the largest automaker in the world. The German carmaker has inched closer to that goal, having outsold General Motors in China last quarter for the first time in eight years.
Volkswagen's sales in China, its largest marker, increased by 21 percent last quarter to 704,991 units. Those numbers almost tripled GM's third-quarter growth, and were enough to beat out the American automaker's 664,765 sales. GM, however, still leads in year-to-date sales in China by a slim margin of around 77,000 units. The Asian nation also happens to be GM's largest market, and according to the report in Automotive News, China's car market may grow to be larger than the US, Japan and Germany combined in three years' time.
About the news his company was bested in China by VW last quarter, GM CEO Dan Akerson is quoted saying, "It's not whether you're the biggest car manufacturer. It's whether you want to be the most profitable." It should be noted of these figures that GM includes truck figures, yet excludes Hong Kong and Macau from its Chinese sales numbers, while VW does just the opposite. Through September of this year, Volkswagen had 5 of the 10 best selling vehicles in China. GM boasted three of the cars on that list.

VW looking to MAN up, ditch Mercedes van deal

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Unlike the US, the commercial truck market throughout the rest of the world is chocked full of competitors from many different automakers. Since 2006, Volkswagen has had a fullsize van called the Crafter that was a result of a partnership with Daimler AG and based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. This partnership is supposed to last through 2016, but Reuters is reporting that VW might be looking to end its relationship with Daimler and create its own van in cooperation with German truck and bus maker MAN.
The article says that VW AG has more than a 75-percent stake in MAN, which would essentially be keeping the new commercial vehicle in-house. Even if VW bolts, Daimler still has a deal worked out in the commercial truck industry between its subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso and Renault-Nissan to supply the other with different trucks.
