1986 Volvo 240 GL

Excellent condition 1 Owner Southern car, no rust. Real leather, sunroof, electric windows.

This was owned by an elderly couple, just brought it up from Georgia. Took it to a Volvo specialist to get whatever it needed for the trip.
All it needed were fuses and wiper blades. Runs great.

Car has less than 120k miles. The odometer shows 107k but stopped working on 2006. It was hardy driven from 2002-present which the carfax shows (less than 1500 per year). It was used to go to church and the grocery store before they stopped driving (took keys away). It has between 110k-120k max.

Original paint is in good shape, it was garaged so not much fade, but does have some minor door dings, scratches. Interior is excellent, real leather seats have minor cracking but no tears. Runs excellent just made 800 mile drive no problem. Cruise control and temp gauge do not work, everything else works fine.

This is a great collectible car, GL's are rare. Or a very nice dependable daily driver.

Car is located in Princeton NJ area, Philly and Newark airports are within 30-45 minutes. It is for sale locally and reserve the right to end auction early if it is sold.

On Feb-12-13 at 18:35:13 PST, seller added the following information:

All warranty books are stamped from the dealer up to 100k.

Also it has an alpine CD player, not cassette.

Volvo calls in S60 T5 over oil pressure indicator

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

As anyone with a driver's license should be able to tell you, the oil pressure indicator on a car is a vital feature. If you don't have enough oil pressure, your engine could seize up, leaving you stranded and causing catastrophic damage for both your automobile and your wallet. Worryingly, then, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the oil pressure indicator lamp on certain Volvo S60 models is prone to failure, prompting the manufacturer to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to MY2011-2012 Volvo S60s with turbocharged five-cylinder engines manufactured between June 22, 2010 and May 14, 2012. All told, precisely 30,929 units are affected by the recall campaign. The owners of affected models will be notified by Volvo to bring in their cars to their local dealer for a software update. See the official notice below for details.

Volvo studying test of electric roads in Sweden

Tue, 27 May 2014

Volvo already announced the results of a study of wireless charging using a stationary C30, and now it's embarking on a more ambitious study of wireless charging involving moving city buses. Next year, in conjunction with the Swedish Transport Association, Volvo will build a section of electric road up to 500 meters long that would use inductive charging to refill the batteries while the bus drives over it.
Right now, the company's Hyper Bus diesel hybrid has to stop to plug in and charge at the end of its route. The company is looking for a way to keep buses in service while being able to run on electric power for greater lengths of time. The new line used for the study will be called ElectriCity, and will come online in central Gothenburg sometime in 2015. There's a press release below with more information.

2015 Volvo XC90 mule spotted testing in the snow

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

The Volvo XC90 was a big step for the Swedish automaker in 2003, but the midsize crossover has changed very little since its introduction. All that's about to change as Volvo starts its initial development on the 2015 XC90, which we see for the first time in these spy shots showing a cobbled-together XC70.
Like the current XC90, the next-generation model will be both longer and wider than the XC70 - judging by the modifications made to this mule's body - which will continue to allow Volvo's flagship crossover and provide three rows of seating. The next XC90 will ride on a new platform that will eventually make up around two-thirds of all Volvo sales, called the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA).
Our shooter managed to find out the registration number for this mule, which indicated that it was powered by a five-cylinder diesel, but we expect the automaker to start stepping away from its current powertrains with a big push toward smaller engines courtesy of the new Volvo Engine Architecture (VEA). Rumor has it that the future engine lineup for the XC90 will rely heavily on turbocharged four-cylinder engines and eight-speed automatic transmissions, which will likely eliminate or lessen some of the current mills available like a straight-six or V8.
