Pleasant Garden, North Carolina, United States

1989 Volvo 245 DL.
Silver with blue interior.
Automatic transmission.
Owner, daily driver since early 2000's.
Good condition but needs new home.
Has new battery, tires, front brake discs, pads, calipers and brake fluid.
New thermostat installed 12/13.
Needs more TLC but out of time and $$ to put into it.
Has typical paint fade on hood and roof for model year.
Side panels in very good paint condition.
Typical driver seat wear but rest of interior in very good shape. i.e. Right side of driver seat foam worn down.
Approx. 200K on odometer. Replaced the odometer and plastic gear broke again, so I have not replaced it.
Approximately 10-15000 miles since odometer went out.
Title is rebuilt. No frame damage when salvaged. It was prior to my ownership. No accidents since I have owned the vehicle.
Brake light is on, I believe due to brake system replacement and not getting all the air out of the system yet.
Light went off when flushing, then came back on. Haven't had time to refresh the system again. BUT, brake pedal pressure is good. Stops well.
A/C is sealed but needs either a relay or switch. Again, time is the issue for me.
Speedo is going the way of the odometer. Starting to stick.
Needs trunk lid shock. Left one was replaced, haven't gotten to the right one.
Slow oil leak at the back, but has never been an issue for me between oil changes.
Always used Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W-30 and Mann oil filters.  Always used major oil co. Premium gas only in it.
Starts every time. Needs someone to take care of her. Always passed inspection as a daily driver. No wiring issues currently.
Fantastic car for first time driver, college kid, or the person who has several more of these already at the house.
I hate to see it go, but it is time.  Happy to end auction early for best offer.

Volvo Concept XC Coupe does the full monte ahead of Detroit debut [w/video]

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

When the doors open at the Cobo Center next week for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, Volvo will lift the veil on its new Concept XC Coupe. But you don't have to even wait that long. A set of images leaked out yesterday to accompany a teaser video released by Volvo, but now the Swedish automaker has revealed the full thing.
The second of three new concept cars aiming to show the way forward for the brand, the Concept XC Coupe follows the Concept Coupe revealed last September. Based on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture, the Concept XC Coupe is expected to preview the next-generation XC90 crossover, but with two fewer doors and a four-seat cabin.
With orange details, matte rubber moldings and underbody skid plates, the design is said to have been inspired by outdoor equipment manufacturer POC - naturally also based in Sweden - whose products are favored by extreme athletes around the world. It rides on 21-inch wheels and incorporates T-shaped DRL headlights, with distinctive tail-lights earmarked to make their way onto the next generation of production Volvos.

Volvo already planning road-going V8 Supercar?

Sat, 15 Mar 2014

After decades of cat-and-mouse battle waged between Holden and Ford, Australia's V8 Supercars series has expanded considerably. Mercedes and Nissan both joined the grid last season, and Volvo has followed suit this year. So when 2014 championship kicked off earlier this month in Adelaide, everyone was watching to see who would come out on top.
The answer is Holden, which took first place in all three of the weekend's races. In fact the General Motors division locked out the podium in the first and third races and took first and third places in the second race, letting just one other manufacturer onto the podium the entire weekend - and that was Volvo. The Polestar S60 scored second place on its first race weekend, beating all the Nissan Altimas, the Mercedes E63 AMGs, the Ford Falcons and most of the Holden Commodores.
Now that's hardly winning the championship, but it's a very solid debut. And that point was not lost on the people back at headquarters in Sweden, who are already thinking about making a roadgoing version of the race-spec V8 Supercar.

2014 Volvo V60 to start at $35,300*

Tue, 31 Dec 2013

When Volvo announced US pricing for its updated 2014 model line, it left one vital model out of the equation: that would be the V60, the long-roofed version of the S60 sedan and the long-awaited replacement for the V70 wagon that left our shores nearly four years ago. But if you look at the V60's product page now, you'll see a starting MSRP listed at $35,300. That represents a $2,900 premium over the S60 and an $800 premium over the larger (but older) XC70 softroader.
Delve further into the online configuration tool and you'll see that the price is applied, naturally, to the base turbocharged five-cylinder, front-drive model. Go for the Premier or Platinum trims and the price begins to climb, as it does with the addition of all-wheel drive, the turbo six engine and the R-Design spec. You'll also need to account for the *$915 destination charge. Tick all the boxes and you'll soon be looking at a price tag of over $50,000. Order books open with the start of the new year.
