1963 VOLVO PV544 SPORT. HI, CLAYTON FROM LAWTON, OKLAHOMA HERE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS LITTLE CAR AT AN ESTATE SALE. IT'S MY HOBBY. I'AM RETIRED ARMY AND FOR THE PAST 22 YEARS I'VE BEEN DRIVING A TRUCK SO I GET TO TRAVEL THE BACK ROADS AND SMALL TOWNS. PREVEOUS OWNER OF THIS CAR PASSED AWAY A FEW MONTHS AGO SO HIS WIFE DECIDED TO SELL HIS SEVEN CAR COLLECTION, THIS WAS ONE OF THEM. IVE NEVER OWNED A VOLVO AND IV'E NEVER SEEN THIS MODEL, DID'NT REALLY KNOW WHAT IT WAS AT FIRST. BUT SENCE BUYING THE CAR I HAVE DONE SOME RESERCH. NOW THE LADY I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID HER HUSBAND HAD OWNED THE CAR FOR SEVEN YEARS. HE BOUGHT IT FROM A GENTELMAN OUT OF CLOVIS NEW MEXICO. SHE ALSO SAID THAT THE CAR ONLY HAS 34140 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT. HOWEVER THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND RUNS, DRIVES AND HANDELS ABOUT AS GOOD AS IT GETS. I DROVE IT HOME ABOUT 40 MILES RAN HER ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR ALL THE WAY, NO SHIMMY, NO SHAKE AND VERY QUITE. I CRAWLED UNDER HER BEFORE I BOUGHT IT AND FOUND NO RUST, CHECKED THE TRUNK AREA LOOKS GOOD THERE ALSO. PAINT IS VERY NICE AS IS THE INTERIOR. TRANNY SHIFTS LIKE IT SUPPOSE TO. SPEEDOMETER, LIGHTS, RADIO, EVEN THE LIGHTER ALL WORK. GLASS IS PERFECT, DOORS OPEN AND SHUT LIKE A NEW ONE. ALL CROME AND TRIM IN GREAT SHAPE. TIRES LIKE NEW. THE ONLY THINGS THAT NEED ATTENTION IS THE HEATER MOTOR, WIPERS AND THE TURN SIGNALS, I'AM NO MECHANIC BUT I WILL KEEP TRYING, IF NOT I WILL KNOCK OFF THE AMOUNT WE DECIDE TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS. I BELEAVE THE CAR IS PRETTY MUCH ORIGINAL. THE CAR IS JUST TO NICE TO HAVE NEVER BEEN RESTORED. AND FROM WHAT IVE BEEN ABLE TO GATHER IT SHOULD HAVE RUBBER MATTING INSTED OF CARPET, I LIKE THE CARPET BETTER AND I DON'T THINK THE HUBCAPS ARE CORRECT BUT THERE VERY NICE. Volvo still undecided on offering plug-in hybrid versions of all models
Thu, 03 Jul 2014The automotive world is only a few months away from getting its first real glimpse at Volvo's big gamble with the unveiling of the next-generation XC90 (pictured above as the Concept XC Coupe). We're already getting a preview of the revolutionary upgrades with the introduction of the Swede's Volvo Engine Architecture family into some of its 2015 models, like the recently driven S60. These changes are just the start, though. The real magic could be in the powertrains.
Dean Shaw, Volvo Cars North America vice president of corporate communications hinted to Autoblog a few months ago that every model sold in the US could come in a plug-in hybrid variant, starting with the new XC90. Despite confirmation rumors that this has now come to pass, Shaw told AutoblogGreen that the only thing Volvo is confirming right now is that the platform is capable of that. "We haven't confirmed that all US Volvos would be available with PHEV," he said.
Shaw did confirm that that XC90 will come with a gas and plug-in hybrid powertrain that offers "around 400 horsepower." According to Plugin Cars, the new XC90 will be unveiled in August and will make its public debut at an as-yet-unnamed auto show in the fall. Also, sometime during the 2016 model year, a plug-in hybrid variant will be added to its lineup.
Volvo Polestar reveals new V8 Supercars engine
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Volvo may be better known for turbo fives and inline fours, but in 2005 it launched the XC90 with a new eight-cylinder engine built for it by Yamaha. Fast forward to this past June when Volvo announced its intention to enter Australia's V8 Supercars series, where it would compete with the likes of Ford, Holden, Nissan and Mercedes-AMG. This is the engine with which it intends to do so.
Revealed this weekend at the Sydney 500, this competition-spec powerplant is based on the same B8444S that powered the XC90 and S80 (not to mention the Noble M600), but tuned for racing duty to be shoehorned into the new S60 touring car. The 60-degree aluminum block has been bored out from 4.4 liters to 5.0, its compression ratio boosted to 10:1, modified to run on E85 bio-ethanol and its redline increased to 7500 rpm. Volvo also promises a unique engine note from its new racers.
While Volvo and its racing partner Polestar haven't released official output numbers, regulations call for outputs between 620 and 650 horsepower - in any event, a whole lot more than the 311 hp it produces in stock form. (Noble managed to squeeze that much out of the same block, but that required twin turbochargers while this unit remains naturally aspirated.) LOLVO Volvo V60 video leverages the power of cats on cars

As strange videos go, this one is truly bizarre. The two-minute clip focuses on the Volvo V60 R-Design, although you're not going to be learning anything about the car. Instead, you're going to be focused on the weird narrator (and the cat decals on the windows).
It's like someone taught the Swedish Chef to speak English, but with a ridiculous accent and a script that's been fed through Google Translate. The result is a weirdly cerebral voice speaking in a manner that borders on gibberish mixed with information about the car. We're particularly fond of, "In accordance with Volvo tradition... the car... is... of course... furnished, with an inside." "Floor bibs," in reference to the floor mats, was an office favorite, as well.
