1985 Volvo 740 Gle Sedan 4-door 2.3l on 2040-cars
Ventura, California, United States
Up for auction is a 1985 Volvo 740 GLE Sedan. 69,200 original miles from new. Purchased by my wife's mother at Ventura Volvo on 8/19/85. Wife mother is now 94 years old and no longer drives. Original California Title issued on
August 19th, 1985. No accidents in this cars history. Always garaged since new. Small ding under the license plate as seen in the pics. Always serviced at Ventura Volvo untill about the 46,000 mile mark. Then she took it to a Independent Volvo Specialist for services. In 2012 she was told that she needed a new transmission so she had it rebuild. (I still wonder) The cars interior is almost perfect without any rip or seam separations. The black leather is almost perfect. The head liner has a little sag around the sun roof but is very serviceable. The car will need 2 tires in the near future. The back window switches are sometimes non-operational. Some times they work and sometimes they refuse. Today they worked. This car is advertised locally so we reserve the right to pull the listing before it runs out. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Car is sold without warranties express or implied. Volvo to build range-topping S90 sedan in China
Thu, 13 Nov 2014Volvo is furthering its deep ties in China by announcing a major expansion to its factory in Daqing that will equip the site to build its future S90 sedan. The automaker is promising to make the plant, "one of the most advanced car making facilities in China," according to its press release. Unfortunately, the company isn't specifying the amount being invested or how long the work will take.
Because the northeastern Chinese city of Daqing owns about 37 percent of the automaker, the location for the significant expansion isn't entirely surprising, especially since Geely owns a majority stake in the Swedish brand. The existing factory there employs about 700 people to build the original XC90 for the local market, but the upgrades will allow the plant to handle Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture modular platform.
To be fair, Volvo doesn't specifically call out the S80-replacing S90 by name in its announcement. However, it promises the first vehicle built in Daqing after the expansion will be a new premium sedan, and the upgrades will allow the plant to make "most innovative vehicles in its product range," and the range-topping sedan is widely expected to adopt the S90 moniker.

Volvo bringing Chinese-built cars to America beginning next year
Wed, 18 Jun 2014Just because the penetration of the American automotive market by Chinese brands hasn't quite happened yet doesn't mean that Chinese-built cars are far off. According to a new report, we could very soon see long-wheelbase Volvo S60s that were assembled in the People's Republic arriving on US shores.
The report comes from Automotive News China, which cites an anonymous Volvo exec. An official Volvo spokesperson later corroborated ANC's report, although where the original source claimed that we could see the Chinese-built S60L in US dealers at some point in 2015, the company line was that a timeline hadn't been established to begin exports from the world's most populous nation.
According to Volvo, the benefit to exporting from China to the United States rather than from Sweden is the relationship between the US dollar and the Chinese yuan. Overall, it's a less tumultuous issue than the dollar-to-euro situation. By moving vehicles from China to the US, the Chinese-owned company is limiting the degree of risk it's taking with sudden currency swings.
