Produced by the Swedish company, Volvo, the car is available as a sedan and station wagon. The Volvo 850 was one of the first front wheel drives. Thus, it became more popular. The 850-turbo is one of the Volvo 850 series cars that replaced the 700 series, also manufactured by Volvo. The engine is located in the front. The car is equipped with a five-cylinder turbocharged engine with displacement of 2435.00 cc that generates 222.00 BHP at the rate of 5200 RPM. The engine is powerful enough to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just about 18 seconds. Volvo equipped the 850-turbo with a dual-overhead-cam, and 20-valve with 4-valves per cylinder. The five-speed manual transmission installed in the Volvo 850-turbo is optional with four-speed automatic transmission. For the safety of the occupants, standard airbags have been provided both for the driver and the passengers. The Volvo 850-turbo is equipped with four-wheel antilock disc brakes. The traction control is another option with the Volvo 850-turbo. The folding rear seat has a built-in booster set specially designed for children weighing between 50 and 80 pounds. The steel unibody has dimensions of 183.401 inches x 79.501 inches x 55.101 inches. The 16' aluminum wheels with a broad wheelbase of 105.101 inch make for sturdy rides. The compression ratio of the Volvo 850-turbo is 8.5:1, whereas the bore x stroke ratio is 3.19 inch x 3.45 inch. The total weight of the vehicle is 3232 lbs. The interior of the Volvo 850-turbo is enhanced with leather seats. Looking forward to hearing from you |

Volvo returns to profitability
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Ford sold Volvo to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Limited in 2010. Just two years later, Geely announced an $11-billion investment in the Swedish carmaker, its charismatic fugleman Li Shifu saying, "We want to revive Volvo and give the brand its strength back." Two years later, after having introduced the Concept XC Coupe at the Detroit Auto Show this week, Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson (above, second from right) declared the company profitable again after a solid 2013 and predicted a positive 2014.
Intending to break even on operating profit in 2013, Volvo exceeded expectations and landed on the plus side due to a mix of factors. US sales declined 10.1 percent for the year to 61,233, that number still making us Volvo's largest market, but Chinese sales were up nearly 46 percent to 61,146 units, and even its home market saw a bump of 0.8 percent; total sales for the year were 427,840, a margin of 1.4-percent over the previous year. Volvo was able to do more with the tiny gain and reverse its half-year operating loss because of a global cost restructuring and thorough revamp of its Chinese distribution network. An announcement of 2013's financial results will come in March.
Bullishness on 2014 comes from the company's intention to focus on its two biggest markets with new models, new technology and more spending. The first product of an independent Volvo, the new XC90, will be revealed later this year on the new SPA architecture. On top of the Sensus Connect infotainment system, Volvo will add driver-aid systems like adaptive cruise control with steer assist and night-time pedestrian detection. It also has a new North American CEO and will spend more on marketing and communications here. In China it will begin to feel more effect from the two Chinese factories opened last year - it has three in the country - and, if need be, can take advantage of more advantageous exchange rates by exporting from China instead of the US. Said Samuelsson of what he expects in the US in 2014, "we will outperform the market."
Volvo XC90 prototype spied for the first time ever
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Despite its advanced age, the Volvo XC90 remains a highly competent luxury SUV. The design has aged nicely, and it's clear from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety naming the big Volvo a Top Safety Pick + that the safety-minded Swedes behind it knew what they were doing. Still, even the finest cars need replacing, especially after nearly 12 years on sale.
Here we have the first spy shots of the next-generation XC90, under development somewhere cold (at this rate, it could be anywhere from Arvidsjaur to Atlanta). Now, as our spy photogs point out, this is the real deal, judging by all that camo over the vehicle. There's a production body under there, rather than this being a mule with the old vehicle's skin on top of it.
It's difficult to make out much because of all the camo, although there are some similarities to both the Concept XC Coupe from the Detroit Auto Show and a batch of teaser images we showed you earlier this year. We can see the greenhouse retains a shape similar to the current XC90, although the beltline climbs rather aggressively once past the C pillar, much like it does on the Concept XC Coupe. In back, Volvo has eschewed tall, vertical lights in favor of more conventional units, which we expect to be similar to what we saw in the teaser images. We'd bargain that there will be a traditional rectangular grille, like what you can see on the concept. The headlights, meanwhile, should wear T-shaped LED elements, like the teaser images.
Volvo S60 Polestar Concept finally spotted in the flesh
Wed, 28 Nov 2012The Volvo S60 Polestar Concept has graced the pages of Autoblog numerous times in recent memory, but we've never actually seen it in person. That is, until now.
We caught up with the blazing blue sedan sitting on the floor of the LA Auto Show, and it looks even better up close. As a refresher, the four-door is fitted with a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine (3.0-liter) generating an impressive 508 horsepower. Its close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox sends power to all four wheels through a fourth-generation Haldex XWD system. With a decent driver behind the steering wheel, the Polestar can crack the 60 mph benchmark in about 3.7 seconds as it rushes towards a top speed in excess of 186 mph.
Volvo has said that this Polestar-modified S60 was built for a specific client who paid upwards of $300,000 for the pleasure of owning it. But as they say, if there is market demand for more...
