Hi everyone!

My wife and I have decided to let our 940 go to get our XC70 back on the road....(forgot how expensive tires are!)  We picked this car up from a friend a few months ago, and since then I've tuned it up, did the work it needed for inspection and have been driving it almost daily.

I have receipts for much of the work done to the car over the past few years.  The timing belt has been done in the last few thousand miles.  It also has new struts up front, a nice matching set of Goodyear's (60-70% tread left), and new brakes.  I also replaced the front seats.  The originals are leather, power adjust and heated.  But, they have not weathered that well. I found a very nice set of non-power cloth seats from a '95 940 and bolted them in.  It really freshened up the interior.  The original power seats do come with the car if you want to re-use them.  Rear seat is still the original leather.  All of the power windows and moon roof work well.  Even the cruise control works.  Sorry, no A/C.  No check engine or ABS lights.  I would not hesitate to jump in and take off......this is a drive home car after purchase.

The car did at one point have a fairly nice stereo, but when we picked it up my buddy decided to keep his nice head unit.  The Alpine cd changer in the trunk did stay put, but I have not tried to wake it up.  I have a good single cd head unit and wire harness that I'm including with the car.  Just needs to be hooked up.

The car is up for auction, sold AS IS, with no reserve.  So bid to win.  Please don't play games with us.....I've sold a few other cars on here, and all I want is a nice clean sale to someone who can make good use of the car.  Cash or Money order at pick up, sorry no personal checks.

Thanks for looking.  Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or want to come check it out.

Volvo celebrates 20 years since 850 wagons came to BTCC

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

This year Honda Yuasa Racing brought a station wagon back to the ranks of competitors in the British Touring Car Championship (its drivers currently sit in third and fifth place in the Championship). In 1994, however, Volvo was the first team to run an estate in the series that's one of the best for delivering close racing.
Rickard Rydell and Jan Lammers drove the duo of 850 Estates prepped by Tom Walkinshaw Racing, lining up at Thruxton and proving that the rumors of a wagon in the series weren't a joke. The team used that year for development, getting the 2.0-liter, 290-horsepower, naturally aspirated five-cylinder engine ready for the next year's proper assault. The team's best finish over the 21 races was a fifth place, and they took 14th overall.
Rules changes led Volvo to switch to the 850 sedan the following year, but all the right noises had been made with the wagon. Rydell drive on to a third-place overall finish in 1995, three years later he claimed the Championship title. You'll find details and reminiscing from Rydell in the press release below, as well as the full video with scenes from the glory days.

Volvo details upcoming XC90's new scalable platform

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

In two weeks' time, we'll be boarding a flight for Stockholm for the live reveal of the new Volvo XC90. But before we do, Volvo has revealed another round of salient details regarding not only its new crossover, but a whole range of new vehicles to share its architecture.
That platform is called Scalable Product Architecture, and it follows the latest industry trend towards modular platforms. The product of four years' development, the new platform uses high-strength boron steel to optimize weight and rigidity. The scalable architecture, set to underpin the next-generation S60, V60, XC60, S80 and anything larger, offers designers more flexibility in terms of proportions. It can be adapted to a wide range of vehicles of different shapes and sizes, designed from the get-go to incorporate a range of powertrains (including the XC90's new twin-charged hybrid system) and all the latest safety technologies you'd expect from a Volvo.
The XC90, Volvo has revealed, will also offer increased interior flexibility, with movable second and third rows to optimize cargo space and legroom as needed. That third row is designed to accommodate children (or small adults) up to five-foot-seven. Meanwhile the image inset above gives us our first glimpse at the new XC90's styling, with T-shaped running lights inspired by Thor's hammer.

Volvo C30 Polestar Concept hits the 'Ring

Mon, 05 Aug 2013

It's been over three years since the Volvo C30 Polestar Concept was unveiled, driven by journalists and, as it turns out, lapped around the Nürburgring with Scandinavian Touring Car Championship driver Robert Dahlgren behind the wheel. For whatever reason, the video of the 'Ring track session was only published by the tuning company yesterday. (Another discrepancy: Did Polestar's C30 lose 46 horsepower somewhere along the line? Because the video states that it has 405 hp, while the company's website quotes 451 hp...)
Whatever the case, the tuned Volvo is a beast, much more so than the similar-looking, 250-hp 2013 Volvo C30 Polestar Limited Edition that was sold last year. With 451 hp (sounds better than 405 hp, doesn't it?), all-wheel drive, limited-slip differentials front and rear and Öhlins dampers, the Polestar Concept checks all of the right boxes for us.
For some reason, the video, which you can watch below, seems a bit vanilla to us. Perhaps the overly dramatic music takes away from the action and the beautiful sounds of the turbocharged five-cylinder engine?
