Gilberts, Illinois, United States

I have a 1998 Volvo C70 saffron with a manual transmission for sale. The car has been my baby and dream car ever since I have owned it. I purchased the car in spring of 2007, with 129,xxx miles. It has never seen a touch car wash. I have only filled up on Shell gas. Also have been using Mobile 1 Synthetic ever since I have owned it. The exterior is in great condition. The interior is also in amazing condition (don't take my word let the pictures speak for themselves)

I have done a crazy amount of preventative maintenance, stage 0, also a bunch of performance modifications. I originally purchased the car with a automatic transmission. Shortly after I converted it over to a manual and put a LSD in it. Other than the engine almost all of the parts have been replaced, with blue box Volvo oem parts (radiator, alternator, AC compressor, rebuilt turbo).

Modifications:
I decided to list all of the modifications separately. As can be seen I have invested a good amount of money in the vehicle.

Performance:
kkk 24 turbo (S60r turbo)
Garrett upgraded wastegate
R exhaust manifold
Custom RICA tune (20 psi)
Manual swap
Quaife LSD
Euro "R" oem clutch
3 inch custom 304 stainless steel downpipe
3 inch custom 304 stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust (MagnaFlow resonator and muffler)
465cc Green injectors
Walbro 250 fuel pump
FMIC
2.5 inch intercooler pipes
WOT box (2 step and launch control)
Port and polished intake manifold
Phenolic intake spacer
960 throttle body
MSD ignition coil
IPD spark plug wires
Short shifter
"ram air" intake

Suspension:
KW v2 coilovers
XC90 spring mounts
IPD track swaybars

Volvo oem S60r rotors
Stainless steel brake lines

Exterior:

Custom Alcantara headliner
Blue led interior swap
White face gauges

Misc:
Viper long range remote start and security system
AEM truboost boost gauge + controller
Innovate wideband
Silicon vacuum lines
Silicon lower radiator hose

I am sure I'm forgetting a lot items. I love the vehicle and it continues to turn heads. At this point I have replaced a majority of the parts on the vehicle. Rear main seal was replaced at 150,xxx miles. Timing belt was replaced at 190,xxx miles. Brand new OEM battery. This is a extremely solid daily driver. That can also be taken out on the track no problem. With around 300 HP to the wheels , it can knock the socks off most cars on the street (take a look at the Autobahn track video passing Evo and m3).

Again, I'm sure I have left a few things out here, so I encourage questions and will respond as promptly as possible. I am looking for $9,000 OBO . The odometer is currently sitting at 216k but as stated above just about everything has been replaced. The engine has no problems or leaks, pulls super hard. I feel the price is fair given the rarity of the car and amount of time and money put into it.

The car is located in Gilberts, IL (near Elgin, IL) and I would be happy to show it to any interested parties. If you are out-of-state and would like a local forum member to look at it that can be arranged as well.

Take a look at the link below to see hi-res photos and videos of the car at track.

Volvo eying return to 100k US sales to ensure dealer profitability

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

Struggling Volvo may be on a verge of a renaissance thanks to the forthcoming completion of its lauded concept car trilogy, new Drive-E engine family and much-discussed SPA modular platform. Its nascent renewal is mostly being financed by $11-billion in funding from its Chinese parent company, Geely, and if it all goes right, Volvo hopes to sell 100,000 cars a year in the States by 2016. That milestone is vital, because it would ensure Volvo's US dealer network is profitable, according to Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson.
In a new Ward's Auto story, Samuelsson notes that his company is launching a slate of fresh products in the coming years, including the new-to-the-US V60 wagon and mid-cycle updates for its S60 sedan and XC60 crossover. But the most important new vehicle will be the recently spied XC90 that is expected to be unveiled just before the end of this year. Samuelsson is also looking at future vehicles for the US, including replacements for the S80 and V70. The V40 is also planned for the US, but not until the next generation, according to the Volvo CEO.
Of course, it's going to take a lot to reach 100,000 US sales in three years. Volvo sold just 61,233 units here in 2013, and according to WardsAuto, Volvo hasn't sold 100,000 cars in the US since 2007. To reach its goal, Volvo's stateside business will need to grow sales by about 40 percent.

Volvo planning Golf rival, 'breathtaking' C60 coupe

Wed, 01 May 2013

Despite just having refreshed nearly its entire portfolio, Volvo is still in the middle of a big product offensive. Vehicles like the C30 hatchback and C70 convertible have been given the axe, but a brand-new platform is being developed in addition to the Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) that will underpin larger vehicles. According to Automobile, this means some very interesting newcomers may be on tap for the brand.
Volvo, in collaboration with Geely, is said to be working on a new platform about the size of a Volkswagen Golf that will likely spawn both a sedan and hatchback. Automobile reports that while the automaker's new scalable architecture is quite flexible, it cannot be stretched (or rather, shrunk) to accommodate a smaller vehicle.
Instead, SPA will be used for the company's larger offerings, starting with the V40 on the small end. (Though to our eyes, the current V40 looks plenty Golf-sized to us.) A new XC40 is apparently in the works, as is an S90 flagship, and new versions of the XC60, XC90 and S60 will all be coming based on this new flexible architecture.

Jaguar turns down offers to join V8 Supercars, questions AMG, Volvo participation

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Rumors have swirled in recent weeks that Jaguar may be the next manufacturer to join the V8 Supercars racing series, made popular in Australia but now well-known in other parts of the world as well. Sadly, Jag's participation is not to be. In fact, it would be "insane," according to Jaguar Land Rover Asia Pacific Managing Director David Blackhall, for it to accept either of the two offers it has received to bring Jaguar into V8 Supercars.
Not only is Jaguar not interested in entering V8 Supercars, says Blackhall, it also fails to understand the recent entries from AMG and Volvo. "I don't know what it does for AMG to get flogged by a V8 Commodore week after week, but it's their brand, their issue. And the same thing will happen to Volvo to be honest."
Judging by Blackhall's statements to motoring.com.au, after not-so-serious consideration, the automaker decided the monetary commitment it would take to compete for wins would be more than any potential exposure would be worth, despite the fact that Jaguar has a 5.0-liter V8 to go along with what would seem to be a tailor-made rear-wheel-drive chassis. For what it's worth, one offer would have had Jaguar putting its name across an engine made by someone else, an option that was flatly turned down.
