This vehicle has seen only one owner for all of its (mostly highway) miles. This vehicle has newer tires and brakes, it has never been in an accident and it drives like a dream. The paint job is in very good shape, with a few minor scratches and a couple very minor door dings. the vehicle has the upgraded 17-inch aluminum wheels and it has the upgraded multi-CD changer with 280 watt sound system. It also has a moon roof and heated seats. The vehicle had a $29,000 price tag when I purchased it new. This vehicle has never had any major mechanical issues, other than the occasional check engine light because of a faulty gas cap that was replaced. The parking brake does need to be tightened up, but that is about it. The interior is in good shape as well, with few blemishes on the dash and none on the steering wheel. The driver side floor mat is pretty worn down, and there is a small wear mark on the power driver's seat. This mark is from the seat belt hitting it. There is also a small dent in the aluminum inside door handle that was caused by the same seat belt, but this is an insert that can be replaced at the dealership if one wishes to. It's not that bad though. This vehicle shifts really well, and the clutch has never had any issues.

The tires have 20,000 miles on them, and I have a full-size spare with fewer than 20,000 miles on it. This is handy to have if you ever get a flat. It also has a working spare. The front brake pads and rotors have 12,000 miles on them and the rear pads and rotors are more like 20,000. It just received a full-synthetic oil change, so it is ready to go!

Volvo offers up more details on 2015 XC90 and its new infotainment system

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

We have more details on the 2015 Volvo XC90 and the all-new, touch-heavy infotainment system that will debut with it. An expansion of the Sensus system, as we've shown you before, we now know the new system won't only sport a large, vertically oriented touchscreen, but a head-up display and the ability to manage the systems via wheel-mounted buttons.
Key to the entire experience are the large, portrait-oriented touchscreen, a head-up display and the thumb controls you can see on the face of the steering wheel in the image above. Volvo is claiming that this combination will be easier to use and, fittingly for the Swedish manufacturer, safer.
"Using the screen is so logical that it will become part of your muscle memory very quickly," said Dr. Peter Mertens, Volvo's senior vice president of research and development. "Information, navigation and media are high up and easy to check. The phone controls, application icons and climate controls are located low, comfortable to reach and touch. All of this logic is based on extensive usability and user experience research and the latest technology."

Volvo confirms unnamed US model reveal for NY show

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

Tucked into the press release for the "display debut" of the Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid at the New York Auto Show, Volvo snuck in a single line announcing that it will also be introducing a new model for the North American market. As much as we'd love to see the svelte V40 on American roads, we're pretty sure the automaker is looking to fill its US station wagon void with the V60.
The 2014 Volvo V60 is part of a comprehensive lineup update that was unveiled earlier this month in Geneva, and it would give Volvo dealers a conventional wagon (not including the XC70) for the first time since the V70 and V50 were killed off. We'll still be keeping our fingers crossed for the stylish V40 hatchback or the fuel-efficient V60 diesel hybrid, but we have to wait until next week to find out for sure.

Volvo finds a way to turn body panels into batteries [w/video]

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

One of the problems with designing an electric vehicle is figuring out where to fit the battery pack. Volvo - as a part of a European Union research project - is working on a way around this issue by replacing standard parts with lightweight components that double as batteries on both conventional and plug-in vehicles. The image above shows one such piece on a Volvo S80. While looking like nothing more than a carbon fiber plenum cover, the piece is actually a battery pack that can store and supply enough energy for the car's entire 12-volt power system.
The parts are made by sandwiching super capacitors (which can charge faster than standard batteries) in between layers of carbon fiber. They can then be formed to replace numerous body panels such as the decklid, roof or door panels. Volvo says that the replacing the body panels and batteries with these nano batteries can help reduce the vehicle's weight by as much as 15 percent. It has taken more than three years just to design the batteries, so there's no telling when, or if, we'll ever see this technology used on a production vehicle.
