Volvo s40 2002 ~~~~~ New Lower Price~~~~~Must Sell
This car is dependable and gets great gas mileage, BUT with issues.
It's currently my daily driver (70miles round-trip/5 days week). I get 30mpg.
I do not have the time to troubleshoot and fix it. The codes are listed below.

It has a clear title.

The only real issue is an idling issue with the car related to the modules. This causes low idling and sluggish acceleration. (You have to hold your foot on the gas pedal or it quits). I have replaced 2 modules with limited successes, the Idle speed control valve and the boost sensor. I have fairly new tires on the car. It needs minor body work on the driver side rear quarter panel and new paint all over - the hood is primed, but not painted.
The car has 212,000 miles. I had the engine rebuilt that has about 90,000 miles on it. If I had time to fix it, I would keep it. The car still has a few good years left. I've had 2 mechanics tell me 2 different things: bad throttle body and bad turbo.

It has been wrecked:
1. Someone backed into me in a parking deck. Minor - front passenger side quarter panel *see photo
2. The driver side has paint damage and rear quarter panel as a result of hitting a guard rail on an interstate on-ramp (minor). *see photo
3. The other wreck was when I purchased it wrecked and fixed it. The front and rear had been hit. The air bag did NOT deploy. I replaced the hood, one front light and radiator as a result and in the rear I replaced one taillight.)

Codes:
P0236 (turbo circuit low)
P0508 (idle control sensor)
P0445 (evaporative purge valve)
P0031, P0037 Oxygen sensors
I've been told that these codes are all connected and are the cause of the low idle and sluggish acceleration.

I replaced the P2401 Boost Sensor.
The P0245 (turbo waste gate) was checked & is working

Volvo celebrates 20 years since 850 wagons came to BTCC

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

This year Honda Yuasa Racing brought a station wagon back to the ranks of competitors in the British Touring Car Championship (its drivers currently sit in third and fifth place in the Championship). In 1994, however, Volvo was the first team to run an estate in the series that's one of the best for delivering close racing.
Rickard Rydell and Jan Lammers drove the duo of 850 Estates prepped by Tom Walkinshaw Racing, lining up at Thruxton and proving that the rumors of a wagon in the series weren't a joke. The team used that year for development, getting the 2.0-liter, 290-horsepower, naturally aspirated five-cylinder engine ready for the next year's proper assault. The team's best finish over the 21 races was a fifth place, and they took 14th overall.
Rules changes led Volvo to switch to the 850 sedan the following year, but all the right noises had been made with the wagon. Rydell drive on to a third-place overall finish in 1995, three years later he claimed the Championship title. You'll find details and reminiscing from Rydell in the press release below, as well as the full video with scenes from the glory days.

Leno drives Volvo P1800 from Roger Moore's The Saint

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

Outside of a few notable exceptions, Volvo usually isn't associated with making beautifully curvaceous vehicles. But in the 1960s and early '70s the company proved with the P1800 that its cars didn't only have to be safe but staid family transportation. Underneath that shapely styling were a lot of components from the brand's parts bin, but that didn't bother Roger Moore when he drove one of these in the TV series The Saint. Actually, the future James Bond actor didn't just get behind of one of these; he owned this exact 1967 P1800 S. It's this week's highlight on Jay Leno's Garage.
Moore was the car's original owner, but it also appeared in studio scenes of The Saint. Despite its famous provenance, when owner Bill Krzastek bought the P1800 in England, it was in pretty rough shape. The Volvo underwent a nine-month restoration to get it back into shape, which included some new body panels and wheels. Krzastek claims that much of the interior is original, though.
Krzastek comes off has a little bit nerdy, but you have to give him credit. He absolutely loves his Volvo and knows something about practically every detail of his car's history. Krzastek even refinanced his house to fund the purchase and restoration of the P1800. Although, with the right maintenance these old Swedes have been known to go millions of miles. Enjoy this look at one that was a star of the screen in the '60s.

Volvo S60, XC60 caught testing with freshened faces

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Neither the Volvo S60 nor the Volvo XC60 are that old, but the Swedish automaker is wasting no time ensuring that two of its most popular products don't get stagnant on the market, a fate that has befallen some of the other products it offers.
Even though these two models helped usher in a new styling direction for Volvo not too long ago, the modest facelifts on tap for both looks like they will bring both products closer to the styling of the handsome overseas V40 hatchback.
Aside from the pointier front end, the XC60 crossover is also getting a revised rear fascia that now includes integrated dual exhaust outlets. The shots of the S60 show us that the sedan's interior will be getting minor tweaks as well, including reshaped front seats and a new shift lever.
