This auction is for a 2003 Volvo S80 T6. It is a 6 cyl, twin turbo with an automatic transmission that also has the option to shift gears manually. I have owned 4 of these and the motors have alway run great well over the 200K mile mark. The transmissions are usually a little less flawless but they seem to keep going and going. One example was my 2000 - the transmission started shifting rough once in a while around 70K miles and it finally went out on that car at 227K miles. This car is in real nice shape inside and out for a ten year old car. The pictures show the condition well. I got it for my son and he's used it for the past few months and drives it back and forth to a local job as well as a local college. We put new floor mats, center console cover and battery in when we got it and went over the car real well. It has been very reliable. The car does have some minor issues but nothing I think is major.
Every now and then it runs rough for 20 or 30 seconds when you first start it and that has set the check engine light off twice. The local autozone reset the light and it showed an oxygen sensor code. My experience with these cars tells me it's likely one of the coils starting to get weak.
It also occasionally can't decide if it wants to shift into 4th or stay in 3rd gear and my son just uses the shifter to shift it into 4th. ZThis has happened about 4 times over the past three months.
The front tires look good but the back tires have some dry rot cracks on them. We've never had to put air in them but I would recommend replacing them. They also have a VERY aggressive tread to them and are noisy when you're driving.
There is only one key to the car and no remotes. My son decided he wanted an old Honda Civic instead of the S80 so this car has to go. This is a no-reserve auction so bid to win and ask all questions prior to bidding. I'll be away from Thursday through Sunday and will answer questions if I can get near a computer. Thanks for looking.

2014 Volvo V60 to start at $35,300*
Tue, 31 Dec 2013When Volvo announced US pricing for its updated 2014 model line, it left one vital model out of the equation: that would be the V60, the long-roofed version of the S60 sedan and the long-awaited replacement for the V70 wagon that left our shores nearly four years ago. But if you look at the V60's product page now, you'll see a starting MSRP listed at $35,300. That represents a $2,900 premium over the S60 and an $800 premium over the larger (but older) XC70 softroader.
Delve further into the online configuration tool and you'll see that the price is applied, naturally, to the base turbocharged five-cylinder, front-drive model. Go for the Premier or Platinum trims and the price begins to climb, as it does with the addition of all-wheel drive, the turbo six engine and the R-Design spec. You'll also need to account for the *$915 destination charge. Tick all the boxes and you'll soon be looking at a price tag of over $50,000. Order books open with the start of the new year.
Volvo XC90 prototype spied for the first time ever
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Despite its advanced age, the Volvo XC90 remains a highly competent luxury SUV. The design has aged nicely, and it's clear from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety naming the big Volvo a Top Safety Pick + that the safety-minded Swedes behind it knew what they were doing. Still, even the finest cars need replacing, especially after nearly 12 years on sale.
Here we have the first spy shots of the next-generation XC90, under development somewhere cold (at this rate, it could be anywhere from Arvidsjaur to Atlanta). Now, as our spy photogs point out, this is the real deal, judging by all that camo over the vehicle. There's a production body under there, rather than this being a mule with the old vehicle's skin on top of it.
It's difficult to make out much because of all the camo, although there are some similarities to both the Concept XC Coupe from the Detroit Auto Show and a batch of teaser images we showed you earlier this year. We can see the greenhouse retains a shape similar to the current XC90, although the beltline climbs rather aggressively once past the C pillar, much like it does on the Concept XC Coupe. In back, Volvo has eschewed tall, vertical lights in favor of more conventional units, which we expect to be similar to what we saw in the teaser images. We'd bargain that there will be a traditional rectangular grille, like what you can see on the concept. The headlights, meanwhile, should wear T-shaped LED elements, like the teaser images.
Volvo to build range-topping S90 sedan in China
Thu, 13 Nov 2014Volvo is furthering its deep ties in China by announcing a major expansion to its factory in Daqing that will equip the site to build its future S90 sedan. The automaker is promising to make the plant, "one of the most advanced car making facilities in China," according to its press release. Unfortunately, the company isn't specifying the amount being invested or how long the work will take.
Because the northeastern Chinese city of Daqing owns about 37 percent of the automaker, the location for the significant expansion isn't entirely surprising, especially since Geely owns a majority stake in the Swedish brand. The existing factory there employs about 700 people to build the original XC90 for the local market, but the upgrades will allow the plant to handle Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture modular platform.
To be fair, Volvo doesn't specifically call out the S80-replacing S90 by name in its announcement. However, it promises the first vehicle built in Daqing after the expansion will be a new premium sedan, and the upgrades will allow the plant to make "most innovative vehicles in its product range," and the range-topping sedan is widely expected to adopt the S90 moniker.
