2003 Volvo V70 2.4t Wagon 4-door 2.4l on 2040-cars

Year:2003 Mileage:141546
Location:

Excellent condition for age. This is a very safe, reliable and beautiful Volvo. This is our 3rd Volvo and have enjoyed all of them
I am the 2nd owner. When I bought it a few years ago I did all the necessary and recommended service. (100,000) mile service. Complete tune up,replaced radiator and thermostat, changed timing belt and did a transmission service. In the last few months I replaced a cv axle and put 4 brand new tires on. These tires are quiet and handle great. Just changed the oil and filter so the new owner won't have to.
From 10 feet out the car looks brand new. Upon closer inspection you will still be impressed. Only minor scuffs and abrasions that you would expect a 10 year old car to have. It has the original paint. Car fax and title are clean, no accidents. The interior doesn't have have any rips or tears. Normal wear and tear. Many of the older Volvos available have many cosmetic and mechanical issues. I would say this car is above average for the year model. My wife drove the car everyday. I have 2 keys, 2 keyless entry remotes and the original owners Manuel and booklet. She bought a Lexus this time so it's time to sell this car.    In interest of full disclosure and to be as fair as possible for bidders that are not local and can't see or drive the car before bidding:  when I first bought the car around 30 or 40 thousand miles ago I had certified Volvo technicians do all of the maintience.  I questioned how the transmission shifted. It has never slipped, it just seemed to me like it wasn't down shifting as smooth as I expected. They told me it was normal for the Volvo's. I was paranoid so I had it serviced anyway. They said the turbo gives it that extra punch on acceleration and the torque converters aren't as smooth as the even older Volvo wagons. I use a 8 dollar transmission conditioner a couple of times a year and it makes it as smooth as I think it's supposed to be. This has been a great car.  Looks great, I get compliments all the time. I have been a proud owner, and hate to get rid of it but my wife was ready for something different. We made several long distance trips in this car, and wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere.  I am going to market the car locally for $6500. I would like to sell it in the next week so I am offering the car at no reserve. Thanks for bidding.

Jaguar turns down offers to join V8 Supercars, questions AMG, Volvo participation

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Rumors have swirled in recent weeks that Jaguar may be the next manufacturer to join the V8 Supercars racing series, made popular in Australia but now well-known in other parts of the world as well. Sadly, Jag's participation is not to be. In fact, it would be "insane," according to Jaguar Land Rover Asia Pacific Managing Director David Blackhall, for it to accept either of the two offers it has received to bring Jaguar into V8 Supercars.
Not only is Jaguar not interested in entering V8 Supercars, says Blackhall, it also fails to understand the recent entries from AMG and Volvo. "I don't know what it does for AMG to get flogged by a V8 Commodore week after week, but it's their brand, their issue. And the same thing will happen to Volvo to be honest."
Judging by Blackhall's statements to motoring.com.au, after not-so-serious consideration, the automaker decided the monetary commitment it would take to compete for wins would be more than any potential exposure would be worth, despite the fact that Jaguar has a 5.0-liter V8 to go along with what would seem to be a tailor-made rear-wheel-drive chassis. For what it's worth, one offer would have had Jaguar putting its name across an engine made by someone else, an option that was flatly turned down.

2014 Volvo V60 to start at $35,300*

Tue, 31 Dec 2013

When Volvo announced US pricing for its updated 2014 model line, it left one vital model out of the equation: that would be the V60, the long-roofed version of the S60 sedan and the long-awaited replacement for the V70 wagon that left our shores nearly four years ago. But if you look at the V60's product page now, you'll see a starting MSRP listed at $35,300. That represents a $2,900 premium over the S60 and an $800 premium over the larger (but older) XC70 softroader.
Delve further into the online configuration tool and you'll see that the price is applied, naturally, to the base turbocharged five-cylinder, front-drive model. Go for the Premier or Platinum trims and the price begins to climb, as it does with the addition of all-wheel drive, the turbo six engine and the R-Design spec. You'll also need to account for the *$915 destination charge. Tick all the boxes and you'll soon be looking at a price tag of over $50,000. Order books open with the start of the new year.

Volvo's plan for China: sell them on the clean air inside the car

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

Large Chinese cities aren't known for having clean air. Just this week, the Chinese city of Harbin filled with record levels of smog after starting the city's coal-fired heating system, according to CNN. But Li Shufu, the chairman of Geely, Volvo's parent company, says the automaker's astute attention to cabin comfort in areas such as air filtration is a selling point for the Swedish automaker in China, Forbes reports.
Shufu says when he is inside a Volvo, he feels like he's in Northern Europe, but when the door is opened, he feels like he's in Beijing. The chairman made the remarks at the fourth annual Global Auto Forum (GAF) in China (which also happened to be attended by Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford, which was Volvo's owner until 2010), where he emphasized Geely's hands-off approach to managing Volvo, saying, "Geely and Volvo are brothers, not father and son."
While good filtration contributes to cabin comfort, the way we see it, Shufu also is allowing Volvo to play to its most well-known strength: safety. Smog protection via air filtration might not seem like the most important safety feature for a car in the US (unless you live in Los Angeles), but when you consider that Harbin's level of fine particles was up to 30 times higher than the World Health Organization's recommended standard on Tuesday, we'd think twice about that. Fine particles, which are 2.5 micrometers in diameter or less, are considered to be the most harmful to health.
