2004 Volvo V70r Awd Turbo on 2040-cars
Reno, Nevada, United States
2004 Volvo V70R AWD Turbo (104,000 miles) This car offers a great combination of comfort, carrying capacity and performance. Always well maintained, has a new timing belt and serpentine belt and has always run Mobil 1 oil since new. Suspension was changed using new Volvo 2.4T springs to give a stiffer ride and 1" greater chassis height. The "R" has Volvo's adjustable high-performance sports chassis with three push-buttons (Comfort, Sport, Advanced) which modify the suspension and engine management settings. Excellent car for summer or winter driving. Safety is typically Volvo; dual-stage driver and passenger airbags, side and inflatable curtain airbags and anti-whiplash front seats. Rear seating is roomy for adults and has a Center Armrest w/storage & cupholders and dedicated vent/AC outlets. The 60:40 split rear seats fold down completely flat. The battery is located under the rear cargo area and was upgraded to an ultra duty 14" long unit. Slightly unusual as this car was ordered without a sunroof. Most miles on the car are from freeway driving between San Francisco and Reno. Slight pitting on front grill paint from road grit and slight scratch in fuel filler door area.

Scratch that new crossover, Volvo teases ad campaign for XC60
Sun, 26 May 2013If we were to paraphrase the opening lines of Kenneth Graeme's Wind in the Willows for our own purposes, we'd write, "Have you heard about Volvo? They never planned a new crossover at all. It was all a horrid low trick of theirs...." To be fair, though, we can't blame them for our own presumption. When the Swedish car company created a site called LeaveTheWorldBehind.com and teased a couple of videos for some kind of collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, we thought the crossover in one of the teasers pointed to a new vehicle on the way.
Turns out that's not the case. It really is 'just' a collaboration with the band on a music video for Swedish artist Lune's cover of their 2009 song, Leave the World Behind.
But there are Volvos in it, and you can watch it below and hear original song alongside. We've also included the press release with more details on why it all came together, and a behind-the-scenes video on the collabo. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, "That's all we have to say about that."
Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too
Fri, 07 Dec 2012We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
Automotive April Fools' joke roundup [w/videos]
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Happy April, everyone. And we all know what this first day of the month means: April Fools' Day. Today is a national holiday for pranksters with the Internet acting as a serious enabler, and it's always fun to see what kind of vivid imaginations exist out there in the automotive world. The abundance of fake news gets a little old as the day rolls on, but we did manage to get in a few chuckles thanks to a handful of major automakers and automotive news outlets that got into the pranking spirit this year
Some of our favorites this year includes Subaru showing what happens when you combine a bunch of rumors, a Corvette some may have already thought was a joke or Honda providing some in-car innovation circa the late 1980s. Honestly, we're still waiting for official confirmation from Mitsubishi that the recently introduced 2014 Mirage is an elaborate April Fools' joke using a failed design intended for the 1995 Geo Metro. We dug up as much "official" OEM foolishness we could find, as well as some of our other favorites, and posted them all below.
