Vehicle info

The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle is one of those timeless designs that looks good no matter how the car is built. Stock, modified, race, pro-touring, whatever; the clean lines and balanced stance on these tough looking muscle cars create a modern look with classic swagger that is an excellent platform for major modifications. Best of all, their universal appeal and high production numbers mean that the Chevelle has one of the largest networks of aftermarket support in the collector car hobby. Born from that awesome combination of appeal and support, this killer 1970 Chevelle mixes custom good looks with serious modern performance hardware to put a 21st century spin on a traditional crowd favorite.

Originally leaving the Atlanta factory in a lot more humble conditions, this Chevelle recently received a $200k restoration by the team at MirandaBuilt out of Palm City Florida. The vehicle was completed in October of 2008, just in time to be shown at the mass-attended SEMA show. Now you have a chance to own this show car that sports a black sinister look guaranteed to turn heads, and an engine capable of sitting you back in your seat.

Only driven nearly 5,000 miles since the 2008 SEMA show the Chevelle looks like it was just finished yesterday. Covered in a black base coat from PPG paint, clearly the body has seen a ton of work to look better than it did when it left the factory. Between 1968 and 1972, Chevrolet did a lot of tweaking on the Chevelle. While each of those years has its finer points, the '70 is arguably the most popular. A big part of that appeal comes from the front end which is easily recognized thanks to its combination of dual headlights and crossbar grille. Below, a clean black bumper makes room for parking lights and a license plate mount. Make your way up to the hood and you'll see gorgeous lines from the moderate hood scoop. Down the sides you'll not only see the candy red flames that blend old-school flames with modern airbrushing techniques, but you'll also see that the doors handles have been shaved. The incredible look is finished off as you make your way past the trunk where you'll find custom rear taillights and the dual exhausts that create a breathtaking rumble.

That cool combination of rayless pigment and classy metalwork is certainly pretty, but now it's time to get serious. Widely considered one of the world's greatest powerplants, Chevrolet's LS2 utilizes aluminum construction, an aggressive cam and an upgraded fuel injection system to mix hours of thrills with miles of efficiency. But adding to this chromed out LS2 is the polished Magnacharger supercharger that sits atop the engine. Flanking both sides of the GM powerplant is custom chrome valve covers with hidden coil packs that bear the name of the build "in motion." At the front of the engine you'll find a sinister products front pulley system that adds to the overall look of the engine. In front of the engine you'll find the aluminum radiator that has been equipped with dual electric fans and a custom made water/air intercooler. Spent gasses enter into a true dual exhaust setup through 1 3/4" long-tube headers and black braided lines and anodized fittings add to the overall look of the black engine bay.

The exterior and engine are impressive, but the real winner might be the undercarriage that received a ton of work. Put the car on the lift and you'll reveal a very clean undercarriage that starts with the floor pans that are covered in a flat black. Bolted to the LS2 is a GM 4L80E transmission with a billet torque converter that sends power to a Currie 9-inch rear axle with a 3.70 posi differential. At the front of the car you'll see that gone is the original double a-arm front suspension and its replaced by a RideTech ShockWave air suspension system, and in the back they upgraded to a sleeve bag with trailing arms. Also at the back of the car you'll see the Magnaflow mufflers that create the breathtaking sound that we referenced earlier. Stopping power comes courtesy of Wilwood 6-piston disc brakes in the front and Wilwood 4-pistons equipped in the rear. In front of those brakes 20" and 22" Budnik rims have been wrapped in Nitto INVO rubber.

Between the doors, the original charm remains intact thanks to a restored black interior. Corbeau racing seats provide the perfect place to enjoy the view from, divided by a pristine black console that hides the controls for the RideTech air suspension system that allow the car to achieve any look you desire. From the driver seat, you'll see the Budnik Steering Wheel and just beyond that the beautiful looking Auto Meter Cobalt Gauges. In the center, you'll see the controls for the Alpine CD/DVD Player that sends tunes through the Alpine amplifiers and through Alpine speakers. At either side, immaculate door panels continue the custom look of the interior by having custom handles and metal mesh incorporated. From the carpet up, every surface presents well, and conveys the message that this is a truly well-thought interior. Behind the front bucket seats you'll see a bench seat that was stitched to match the front two seats.

The sale of this professionally restored '70 Chevelle includes numerous receipts from its extensive restoration, various product manuals, and the original Protect-O-Plate. Also included in the sale is the two magazines (Chevelle and Chevelle World) that it was fortunate enough to be featured in.

With its incredible motor, lust-worthy body and fully sorted chassis, this Chevelle is the very definition of muscle car. Its professional build, which combines stunning design with no-limits performance, represents first class showmanship at its very finest. If you're in the market for a top notch classic that'll win trophies and literally own the street, this Chevy is your kind of car!
