ORIGINAL!

Every once in a while a true survivor comes along that is not only all original but is a really cool car too, it's the same colors as the Indy Pace Car for 73. I have known this car for about 10 years, the owner passed away a little over 2 years ago and his son has decided to let it go. This is a 2 owner and was purchased in 1980 with about 7K miles on it, it has always been in CA, garaged and it shows. I don't think you can find a cleaner 73 Eldorado out there, it is all original and it could be a Concours car with a detailing of the engine bay. Cars don't come up like this often so don't miss this opportunity.

The engine is the original 500, it runs out great and it starts with no rattles or noises. The valve cover gaskets were just changed , it has new points/cap/rotor, the oil and filter changed as well. The coolant was changed in 2012 with extended life type so the level was checked to make sure it was good. The transmission had the fluid and filter changed because the gasket was leaking and it does have a small front seal leak that goes away after being driven a little, you may want to address it but it's up to you. It had the oil changed every year the whole time he was alive, he would do all of his collector cars on the same day every year regardless of miles. The brakes work great and the suspension feels good, it drives like a 2 year old used car!

The interior looks great for original, there aren't any issues except the clock isn't working. All power features work as they should, the radio and antennae work and the air conditioning works as well (still R12). The original floor mats are in great condition as well. I don't know what else to say except it's almost perfect. The trunk is beautiful and I took the spare out to clean, probably the only time it was ever out of the trunk. It comes with the original red boot to cover the top when down.

The exterior of the car is wearing the original paint, there are a few chips and a spot where he rubbed the paint a little thin cleaning off some road tar behind the passenger rear tire. There are a couple of door dings, the one on the passenger door below the molding is the largest (quarter size) but no paint damage so it could be massaged out by a dent guy. The top is the original, probably because he never put it down. The way I understand it is he and the wife went out shortly after buying it, tried to put the top down but it wouldn't go past half way so he fought to get it back closed and never messed with it again. I checked it out and found the LH cable was broken and it was replaced, the top works for the first time in nearly 35 years! The front bumper fillers had to be replaced and they were done with the hard plastic so they'll never have to be done again. I also refinished the panel under the license plate, The chrome is outstanding, a little scratch on the back bumper is the only flaw I saw. There is a ding in the LF hubcap, maybe it was swapped from the other side because that's where it usually bumps a curb. The hood ornament looks like it was just pulled out of a box, I can't remember seeing one on a car that nice. All the class is clear and the windshield doesn't have sand pitting or any chips. It has the original headlights, I did replace the adjusters and align them because several of them were broken.

The chassis is immaculate, not even surface rust under the car. I will say the car wasn't driven much in the rain based on what I see. Most of the assembly markings are visible and all the original paint and undercoating is undisturbed. The exhaust had the catalytic converter and resonators removed, it looks like the muffler was replaced also. The car is pretty quiet but I suspect it would've been hard to hear originally.

It is only original once, restored could mean 1 of 10,000 possibilities and can't duplicate original, many times it is interpreted by the restorer so no 2 will ever be exactly the same. I think your looking at one of the finest original examples of a 73 Eldorado convertible in existence and I can't say enough how incredible is throughout. I think I've described the car as I saw it and gave you the information so you can make an informed decision but if I missed something that you still need to know just let me know and I will be happy to find out. I also have many additional pictures if you want to see more detail; just send me a question thru the system but make sure to send your e-mail address (with at instead of the symbol) because I can't send pics thru the eBay system efficiently.

There is no Buy-It-Now as you can see, you can make an offer if you want the auction to end early. We don't know for sure what it's worth but original cars like this are highly desired and considered investment grade cars. There is no interest in any trades and I welcome inspections, the car is here and can be viewed by appointment. The winning bidder will receive a California title, clear of any liens with the car. I can assist with arranging shipping to your location or make recommendations for shipping, of course it can be picked up in person after we have received funds. This car is located at my shop in Fresno, CA.

On Aug-25-14 at 16:17:24 PDT, seller added the following information:

I just wanted to mention that just over $1,600.00 was spent on the car in the last few weeks to make sure the new owner was getting a car that needs nothing. Fluids changed, new headlight adjusters, minor tune up, gaskets, top cable, bumper filler panels and detail. It is ready to show as soon as you get it! Depending on your location and the type of show, I feel confident it will win best original/survivor or best in class as you see it.
