1962 Chevrolet NOVA CHEVY II 400 4-door Station Wagon with original dealer installed Frigiking under dash Air Conditioning. Original Factory Roman Red with Irmine White two tone roof as indicated on firewall tag. 39,347 original miles to date. “Turbo Thrift” 194 c.i. 120 H.P. six cylinder engine number F0319HF. Vin number 20435N164275.

Currently registered and insured in my name, in Los Angeles, California. Front and rear black plates are original to this car as well.

This is an original paint, garage kept, rust free, matching numbers NOVA wagon that has spent its entire garaged Life of 52 years in the very dry climate of Central California.

As shown in the photos, the undercarriage of this car is a testament to the obsessive care the car received and the original factory applied undercarriage primer in green zinc chromate and ruddy brown iron oxide clearly remain. As with the rest of this car, this is absolute reference for future NOVA restorers who strive for authenticity in their work. The car obviously never received undercoating beyond the four corner wheel well areas and this remains strongly intact with zero evidence of rust.

Per the factory firewall data plate, this car rolled off the Norwood, Ohio assembly line the fourth week of March, 1962 and was delivered new to Snyder Chevrolet of Napoleon, Ohio.  On 4/20/1962, per the Chevrolet Owner Protection Plan factory book included in the glove box, the car was delivered new to its owner. Records in this document show this car was sold new to a Dr. Harper of Napoleon, Ohio.

I am told Dr. Harper never raised the rear seat of the car and carefully cut a piece of cardboard from a new refrigerator box, upon delivery of the car, to preserve the rear cargo area the entire Life of the car.  Hence, the rear cargo area is in mint condition with superficial evidence of sun fading, as seen in the photos, limited to the vinyl spare tire cover.

The front bench seat lower half, in the driver’s area specifically, has been worn through, but has been protected from further decay by a heavy blanket in subsequent years. I am surmising Dr. Harper must have been a “substantial” guy. Classic Industries offers an accurate replacement kit for the wagon bench seat, but personally, I feel this would detract from the originality of this car, so I have left this flawed area as is. I ordered a color swatch from them out of curiosity, and the color match is accurate.

The factory jack, handle, base pedestal (with wood spacer block in position beneath the large wing-nut) and the spare tire with its vinyl zipped cover had never been removed from this car until recently to shoot photos. The lugnut holes on the spare tire show no use. The original cardboard lining inside the spare tire cover is without flaw, having never seen the light of day. The spare tire rubber tread has crisp factory stenciling with zero fade.

Original Jacking instructions found within (in mint condition, fastened to right rear inner quarter panel) are station wagon specific.

All red rubber flooring surfaces are factory original , undisturbed, and in mint condition. The transmission tunnel factory carpeting with original binding shows minimal fading beneath the Frigiking under dash air conditioner unit. The A/C blows very cold and was recently serviced. Cold enough to keep my Siberian Samoyed happy as seen in photo. Note new line connection fittings at compressor under the hood.

The heater core has long ago been by-passed at the firewall, but a new core, in the box, is included with the car. Recent documented service as follows: new brakes on all wheels (cylinders, shoes, drums cut, soft lines, backing plates cleaned, wheel bearings and axle seals replaced), new valve cover, pushrod covers and oil pan gaskets, air filter, oil change /filter, transmission fluid changed, bands serviced, rear differential fluid drained and changed, radiator flushed/ replenished with anti-freeze, A/C serviced and charged with updated coolant, Pertronix Ignition (eliminates points-saved originals) hidden inside the distributor cap) and the original carb was rebuilt. All painted surfaces under the hood are factory original as well. Nothing has been resprayed. The original hood insulation has deteriorated in some areas. Once again, all factory original.

The original Roman Red paint steel wheels on this car show no scratches, (have obvious runs in the paint from the factory) indicating the car never sported anything other than the factory Plain Jane dog dish center caps as the car was delivered new, and are still on the car.

Both the red and white paint on this car are in just spectacular factory original condition. As you would expect, there are exterior superficial blemishes throughout the car as a testament to its originality overall. The photos speak for themselves. Seeing is believing and viewing is welcome with appointment, prior to auction end. Note the tailgate upper edge in particular for minimal evidence of wear to the paint. The original owner was apparently obsessed with dark red Rustoleum touch-ups on any blemishes in the paint, whether real or imagined. I have left these areas as is. Surrounding the fuel filler cap, you can see evidence of subtle darkened staining in the original paint.

Many years ago, an under-dash stereo unit was added to the car (without drilling any holes for fasteners or speakers) and it was merely set upon a section of carpet padding atop the transmission tunnel to avoid movement. This explains why there is an antenna on the car, although the car features a rare radio delete dash. The plaque on the delete plate, as seen in the photo, was placed there by the original owner and his Wife, which to me, is a priceless statement of pride of ownership.

The California climate has been nice to this car and it truly shows.

No reserve, highest bidder takes the car upon receipt of payment in full. Sold as is, where is. The car runs and drives whisper quiet (new tailpipe and muffler) without issue. Plenty more specific photos available upon inquiry. Take Care, Eric
