 Description

1969 Plymouth GTX 440 Automatic in Rare Original un-restored condition offered by Gas Monkey Garage. The Plymouth GTX was introduced as the Belvedere GTX in 1967 by the Plymouth division to be a "gentleman’s “muscle car. Purchased from the original owner, (1-owner car from new), original registration from November of 68 matches the title, miles are actual so says the original owner and all signs point that their statement is true. Documents include original registration cards from 1968-1976, clear title, Airtemp pamphlet from Chrysler, original operators manual and pouch. There cannot be very many original, 1-owner low mileage GTX’s left in existence, if you are looking for an honest, correct original car this is it! When I found this extremely original, un-molested example of the iconic Mopar Muscle Car showing 68,601 miles I had to act fast to secure it. Now this car was built with the 440 Super Commando V8 motor, 3 speed Automatic, Power Steering, Power Brakes and Factory Air Conditioning! This appears to be the Original Factory paint, which is showing its age (see all pics)! All of the exterior trim, grills and bumpers are present and complete making the exterior restoration a straight forward project for you (there is some rust perforation on the bottom of the rockers and doors that doesn’t intrude very far into the body making for an easy repair). Interior is also original, un-molested and complete with all trim present and in good shape. A check of all the switches confirms that everything works as it should, including the factory AM Radio (please note: the A/C blower and vent controls all work as they should, however the original compressor is locked up and will need to be replaced to restore A/C operation) The driver’s seat has some seam separation as would be expected on an original interior that is over 40 years old (this is common on the GTX as pushing the accelerator pedal to the floor will pin the driver firmly into the seat!) The Carpet, Dash, Headliner, Door Panels and Rear seat are in good condition as well. Pictures of the trunk reveal a fairly clean and solid floor with minimal rust present. The engine comes to life with a twist of the ignition key delivering a throaty roar through the dual exhaust setup and delivers robust performance as the rear tires light up with an audible protest that is “The Burnout”! Under hood pictures reveal a fairly original engine compartment that has been maintained through the years with no evidence of abuse present. Underside photos reveal solid floors and frame rails with minimal superficial rust present. This 1969 GTX runs and drives, however it should be completely serviced prior to extended driving to ensure safety and reliability due to unknown service history. This Plymouth GTX will be seen on an upcoming episode of the hit show Fast N Loud and the winning bidder can take delivery here at the shop in Dallas, or we can help with shipping logistics World Wide! If you’re looking for an original, unrestored example of the iconic 1969 Plymouth GTX you won’t find a better example that’s priced to sell! Suitable for a classic restoration, Advertising or Promotional use, Clear Title in hand! We sell internationally as well as locally and will end the Auction when it sells.  About Us

“I’ve been obsessed with cars since… I was born.”

Richard Rawlings had a car by age fourteen, and had gone through nearly twenty cars by the time he was out of high school. His father worked three jobs his whole life—two to make ends meet for the family, and one to buy toys. Neither a mechanic nor a fabricator, his father took pride in his car collection. Needless to say, this stayed with Richard.

Rawlings was always working, and always chasing pipe dreams. By twenty-one, he’d been a cop, a fireman, and a medic. But he wanted more. After a rough stint of sleeping on his sister’s couch, he got his act together and entered the world of trading sales. Here he solidified his business savvy, and went on to build an advertising and printing firm from the ground up. The company grew to become a “juggernaut” in the Dallas area. A mere four years later, the company sold, and with that money Gas Monkey Garage was born.

Aaron Kaufman worked at a shop Rawlings frequented, and loved the stuff Rawlings brought in for him. Kaufman always went above and beyond for him. When Gas Monkey opened, Rawlings called him up and asked if he wanted to work for him. The premise was simple: Rawlings wanted the fastest, most expensive, most badass hot rod shop to be found, with apparel and a show on Discovery to boot. Kaufman thought he was crazy, but signed on anyway. Eight years later, the shop is all that and more.

They owe their success to a strict business model. They don’t buy parts—only whole models without too much rust. Owing to his business background, Rawlings has a handle on the market, and knows the price he ought to pay. In ninety days or less, the job will be done, whether they start with a decent model or a carcass. Then it’s onto the next job without hesitation. If a finished car sits too long, Rawlings will sell it at a loss. He’s interested in a killer operation, not a stockpile.

Their roles within the shop are clear. Rawlings is first and foremost an entrepreneur. He wants to sell a style, push a brand, and make sure Gas Monkey Garage never stops growing. Kaufman runs the shop, armed with his mastery of mechanics, electrics, and fabrication. The dynamic is vital, the common ground being their mutual love of classic cars. Rawlings has always been an old soul when it comes to cars, and his style has brought in a steady flow of clientele who trust his no-B.S. methods. “Anyone can go out and buy a Ferrari.” Rawlings’ dream car? “A 1932 Ford Roadster—the holy grail of hot rods.”

you are bidding on a 1969 GTX. eBay automatically generated the info that indicates this is a 1979 model from the VIN # and it can't be corrected while the auction is active, sorry for any confusion.
