This is a very nice and well cared for 2002 BMW Z3 M Roadster. Since you clicked on this I guess I shouldn't go through how rare this car is with less than 1600 built in 01-02 and 02 being the last year for the Z3. Let me tell you about this car. This car was in NY in Hurricane Sandy. This car was cleaned and a shop had removed the seats when I bought it from an insurance auction. From what I can tell this had about 3 inched of water inside. The seat motors are toasted and were unbolted to move the seats to unbolt them. The water did not get over the tunnel or to any wiring under the dash. The airbag module did not get wet. The seat cushions don't appear to have been wet either. This was a very low flood. The engine starts and runs very well. Everything from the windows to the AC works. What this will need are all four seat motors and redo the wiring to the seats as this has one big electrical connection similar to the one found on E46 seats and that is corroded and should be replaced. The brakes are in excellent shape and transmission shifts like new. There is a bit of whine from the clutch throw out bearing. This is not a big job for me so I will just install a new one if the car sells. I can't see doing it now as if the reserve price is not met I will be parting the car out. This has polished wheels which I have never seen before. They look beautiful but will need some light cleaning. The top is in like new condition. Overall this is a chance of a lifetime to get a 24k mile S54 M Roadster with less than $1000 of work needed for less than half what one should cost. You will be seriously impressed with the condition of this car. I will add better pictures as soon as the weather clears up and I can take pictures outside. The title is a New York 907 salvage certificate. As the insurance companies would not turn the key on any flood vehicle the title is marked not actual mileage. I am a NJ car dealer so yes if you are a NJ resident you will have to pay 7% sales tax. If you are not a NJ resident you will have to fill out a ST 10 tax exception form. No exceptions. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. Please feel free to contact me to set up a time to come see the car.

On Jan-31-13 at 06:58:21 PST, seller added the following information:

Ok, I've had a ton of questions on this car. The wheels are the proper wheels for the car but instead of being painted these have been polished. The wheels are not curb rashed, bent, or damaged. They do need to be cleaned and I would hand polish them if it was my car. I also say I did not mention that the lower sides of the front bumper where slightly damaged when this was picked up by the loader. I added pictures of this. If you have already bid and no longer want the car do to this please contact me by the end of the day on Friday and I will cancel your bid. The leather on the seats is perfect and will not need to be replaced. It is soft and the car has no abnormal smells. The only other part of the seats that maybe damaged are the seat belt latches as they have the airbag pyrotechnic in them that was in the water. They may be fine but without taking care of the seat plug there is no way to test them. These are not to bad at around $150 a side new from BMW. The antenna was unscrewed and was in the trunk. It is back on in the new pictures and yes the radio works. I have had quite a few people ask about temp tags. I can not stress this enough. THIS IS A SALVAGE TITLE. This can not legally be driven on the road until it has been inspected by your state and you are issued a new title. So no I can not issue a temp tag and the car must be towed. I will take care of the throw out bearing as the reserve is meet and this car will sell. Someone is going to get a great car. I had a few people mention how great a track car this would make. That is a great idea and I wish I could keep it myself as a track toy. So thanks for checking this out and have a great day.

BMW X5 eDrive Concept is utilitarian plug-in hybrid

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Bridging the gap between internal combustion engine-powered vehicles and electric vehicles are plug-in hybrids, and BMW has made one out of its biggest sports utility vehicle, even if it's just a concept car at this point. The plug-in hybrid X5 eDrive Concept debuted today at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and it sits attached to a charge port on the show floor.
As we reported in August, the X5 eDrive Concept combines a turbocharged four-cylinder engine of unknown output with a 95-horsepower electric motor, to achieve longer range and lower emissions. The X5 eDrive can drive up to 75 miles per hour and 19 miles on electric power alone, manage about 62 miles per gallon (3.8 liters per 100 kilometers) and accelerate from 0-62 mph in under seven seconds, according to BMW.
Three drive modes are offered: one that automatically operates the hybrid system, an all-electric mode and a Save Battery mode that operates the vehicle using the engine only.

Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.

Check out the trick way you access the tire valve on this BMW Alpina B6

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

The wheels are one of the first things you notice when checking out the 2015 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe. The 20-inch aluminum alloy rollers have 21 spokes that spray out from their hubs, creating one of Alpina's signature design features. But there's also plenty of function to go along with the stylistic form of this hotted-up BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe.
By rotating the Alpina roundel and unlocking the center hub, you gain access to the tire valve and bolts, which are hidden inside. They're literally kept under lock and key, and they protect your Alpina's wheels from the elements and theft. This unique center-fill system employing a hollow spoke isn't a new setup for the favored BMW tuner, but since Autoblog had one in our offices this week, we thought we'd take the opportunity to show the unique mechanism in case you haven't seen it before. Check it out in our brief video below.
