West Kingston, Rhode Island, United States

I bought the car in 2006 and since that time, it has not been driven in rain/snow or on a track.  It is adult owned and has never been abused.  I have all invoices which include detailed descriptions of all the work completed and will forward them to you upon request.  Since my ownership, all work has been completed by Conti’s Service, 226 Warwick Avenue, Cranston, RI 02905, Phone – 401-781-5770.  Please feel free to direct specific build questions to John Conti at the above number Monday through Friday from 6:15 am to 4:30 pm.  Serious inquiries only (no test pilots) Call Josh @ 401-368-0207.  Again, the invoices contain more detail but I have attempted to list some of the major items included in the build.  They are as follows:

Speed Pro Forged pistons, AirTex Water Pump, Poston/Accufab Fuel Regulator, Hi Output Walbro fuel pump, New GM Fuel Tank, Melling Hi Volume Engine Oil Pump, Sealed Power - Piston Ring Set, head bolts, Clevite main, rod and cam brgs., Speedpro rings, performance cam and kit for specific application with timing chain and degreeable sprocket, Harland Sharp roller rockers and hardened shafts, TE 44C Turbo (850 CFM), Precision/Bosch 50 lb injectors and 93 Chip, Auto Meter – temp, oil pressure, voltage gauges, High Temp Silicone GM gasket set, Heavy Duty Clevite rod and main bearings, full floating pins and new connecting rods, Crane Cams machined valve lock set, MSD Gear reduction starter, Severe duty Turbo 400 3 speed auto installed with Alto clutches and severe duty steels, 32 element sprag, Tourington thrust bearings in high load areas, new lipseals, 3200 stall converter, Brute Force/Neapco U-joints and Chrome moly drive shaft, GM brake master/pump/accumulator/s entire assembly, rear wheel cylinders, Viston heavy duty radiator with stock design internal trans. and oil coolers, Headers – port matched to cylinder heads & ceramic coated, Pit-bull stainless steel exhaust modified to improve flow, New Headliner.  A/C system works but, will likely need a charge at this point.  The engine and all components were prepped, primed and painted individually.   In regards to the exterior, the areas that need spot painting include the nose (normal, stone chipping), right door (paint cracking) and trunk lid.  NO RUST EXISTS

The speedometer needs to be calibrated and the digital boost and tack do not work.  There is one quarter size dent in the passenger front fender which is included in the pictures.  The car is a recovered theft with all proper documentation.  It was regsistered in RI when I bought it and I have maintained a Rhode Island registration.  The interior is in great shape (no rips or heavy wear on seats).  The headliner is new.  I am happy to take and forward any additional pictures that you request.  The car is for sale locally as well.

Buick version of Equinox/Terrain CUV spied testing... with autonomous gear?

Wed, 12 Jun 2013

Let's get the most pressing bits of this story out of the way right off the bat: What we see here appears to be a new compact crossover from Buick. According to the spy photographer, this machine may be a little bit smaller on the outside than the current Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain 'utes, which makes sense since recent rumors suggest GM's small crossovers will migrate to a new platform that will mark a convergence between the automaker's Delta (Chevy Cruze, Buick Verano) and Theta (Equinox, Terrain) platforms. This Buick would likely use this new D2UX platform.
We've been expecting Buick to unleash a crossover to slot between the very small Encore and the very large Enclave, and various rumors have indicated that the model may be known as either the Anthem or Envision. It's worth mentioning that Buick had planned, back in 2009, to release a vehicle in the compact CUV market, but abandoned those plans after a particularly poor reception.
And now for something completely different... Take another look at the spy shots above, and pay special attention to the cylindrical device mounted to the vehicle's roof. We can't say for sure what it is, but our spy photographer opines that it looks quite a bit like the 360-degree Lidar camera equipment used by Google for its autonomous cars. Is General Motors working with Google on autonomous car technology? We don't know, but you can definitely consider us intrigued.

Bob Seger's Detroit Made music video is an homage to the Motor City

Tue, 16 Sep 2014

At this point, Bob Seger feels like the living embodiment of old-school rock 'n' roll. The Michigan native has been strumming out classic records like Night Moves for decades, and he just released a new single called Detroit Made. It sounds like a future staple of just about every classic car show within the next few years, and the video is dedicated to the Motor City, past and future.
Detroit Made is all about cruising in the city in a classic Buick Electra 225, perhaps better known as a "deuce and a quarter." It's straight-down-the-middle rock and could just as easily be from a decades-old Seger album as something new.
The video for the new single mixes shots of American classics cruising along Woodward Avenue with a contemporary look at the city. Sure, there are the well-known dilapidated buildings falling into rubble, but the people there aren't just letting the city die. Other parts show the attempts to clean things up and rebuild. Check out the video if you need a few minutes of old school rockin' in your life.

2013 Opel Cascada

The Future Buick Verano Convertible?
I wasn't wearing a pedometer while in Germany covering the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it's safe to say I walked more than a few miles between press conferences, shooting cars and trekking back to the media center on the first day alone. For this reason, it didn't take much convincing from General Motors for me to duck out of the Messe a day early and drive some of its latest Opel models. No, this didn't include the all-new Country Tourer, but I was able to drive the Opel Mokka (our Buick Encore), the Opel Adam and the Opel Cascada.
I focused most of my driving time behind the wheel of the Cascada, which went on sale in Europe earlier this year, since rumors are swirling that a Buick version of this convertible "could happen soon." Buick hasn't had a convertible since the Reatta, and GM has been lacking a non-performance, budget-minded convertible since the Pontiac brand - and its G6 - was dropped, so adding the Cascada to Buick showrooms could further help the reemerging brand compete in the near-luxury segment. Although the weather was too chilly (and occasionally rainy) to enjoy the Cascada with its top down for very long, I was able to clock a fair bit of drive time behind the wheel on roads ranging from the autobahn to tight roads in small, quaint villages.
