1964 Chevy Impala Convertible 4 Speed Factory Tach Bench Seat on 2040-cars

Year:1964 Mileage:107320

Butte, Montana, United States

1964 Chevy Impala Convertible . Out of 30 + year storage. This car is a factory 4 speed 327 300 horsepower with tach.  No power steering or brakes, all business. It does have a power top which works well. The body and interior have never been touched. This car was owned by an elderly gentleman who owned the car since it was almost new, The engine was getting tired at 105000 miles so he  started to remove engine for a rebuild but never got it done. He past away several years ago and I bought the car from his estate.I removed the 327 and installed a 350 in it just so I could move the car around . The 327 looks like it has never been apart. It has the camel hump heads and big Carter carb.It also has 2.5 inch exhaust manifolds and the factory exhaust is still all in place and is quiet. The Muncie 4 speed is very quiet and the factory shifter with reverse lockout works good. The body still has the original maroon paint. It has rust in the lower front fenders where they all seem to.The wheelwells have just a little rust starting to show. The rockers look solid. The underside of the car is factory undercoated and looks good. The car has a dent in the left quarter panel and the trim is missing on the right lower quarter panel. The garage he stored the car in had a narrow door and it looked like he scraped it. The side glass is nice for its age and so are the frames. They all roll up and down nice and are tight. The windshield is cracked. I drove the car 500 miles last summer it is very tight Quiet, and smooth. It drives good .I have a new white top for the car also. This would be a good candidate for an original numbers matching restoration. Or drive it the way it is the patina look is in style now. Please call if you have questions.I have too many cars and need to sell a few. Hate to see them go but I would have to live to 100 to get them all done. Thanks Bob D 406 565 1587

GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.

Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

2014 Chevrolet SS makes its live debut

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

Chevrolet showed off the new 2014 SS in an airport hangar last night, its first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan in the US since the Impala SS from 1997. We'll have more to say about the SS later today, but this is the sedan that Chevrolet sees as the final piece in restoring its performance credentials. For those of you looking for a manual transmission, however, that wish will go unfulfilled - at least for now: the only two options buyers will have are the color and whether or not they want a sunroof.
We'll work on getting some more angles (in better light) today at Daytona International Speedway, but with fans seeing the car for the first time, we don't hold out much luck of getting a clear shot. So for now, enjoy the high-res gallery above.
